Alacrity Valentine`s Contest

Hello Alacrity!

We're excited to announce that we're having a site-wide contest just in time for Valentine's Day! You can enter in only one of two areas: Art or Poetry. Both will deal with the theme of "A Valentine for Alacrity".

Art: Any visual art relating to the theme can be posted. It must be your own art, but beyond that, be as creative as you can think!

Poetry: You don't need to rhyme or have a meter. Just stick to the theme and you can write whatever comes naturally to you.

All posts must be made to This Thread by 11:59 Ala time on 14 February 2013. Anything later will be disqualified.

There will be four winners for each category, one each chosen by a site staff group. The prizes will be as follows:

Moderators: Magical Dog Whistle
Helpers: The Professor Plush
Artists: Custom Accessory Maker
Admins: Magical Lifelong Locket

And to prove that anyone has the talent for this - in case you feel intimidated about entering your own - here is my own attempt at both:

Aussies are Red
Pit Bulls are Blue
It's Singles Awareness Day
At least I have my Shiba Inu

Custom Content Moderation

There's a new poll everyone should take a look at! We value everyone's vote, and encourage you all to participate. :}

While I will still be discussing this issue with the admin team, I want to hear what our community has to say. When we first added Custom Accessory Makers, back when we were under the first owner, the policy was more or less a free-for-all, which has made it incredibly difficult to moderate this content and make sure everyone is following guidelines/rules. Not to mention, it can be quite a blow if you've submitted content and others have purchased copies from you of a Custom Accessory that does not meet those guidelines and have to be removed. :C

In light of the recent need to remove several custom items that were not aligned with our rules, and an initial voice of support for future custom content to be moderated and approved before allowing it on the site, I do feel our current policy should change. This will make it easier on everyone involved, in my opinion.

So let me know your opinions, concerns, etc.! And don't forget to vote on the poll! :D

I like it. It's been always like this on Exhibited and thanks to this moderation, custom overlays were always of good quality and in line with rules.

Rule Reminder: Custom Content & Photography!

Hello Alacrites!

I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that photography is in no way, shape, or form allowed to be submitted to Alacrity when using your Custom Accessory Makers. It doesn't matter if you took the photo, if it was free stock, etc. No photography is allowed, in the interest of quality control for the site.

Please report any CAs you may find that look to be made or traced from photographs, so that we can handle the issue asap!

The only exception to this rule is if you have traced from a photo you took yourself. However, we discourage tracing in general, as it can raise issues and bring your custom content under a lot of scrutiny. It's much easier on everyone if you only use photos as reference material for your original drawings, rather than tracing them. But this post is focused on using photography itself as custom content, and using photos that aren't yours.

Thank you all, and keep having fun! <3

I'm afraid it's been so long, that even I can't remember the exact date the rule was added, only that it was in 2011. As it is, you were misinformed about that rule, and your CAMs have been refunded to you, Ras. :}

I'm also for putting quality control in effect for CAMs. I just need to talk to the coders and the admin team about it. I wouldn't mind having the art team as a whole being in charge of approving custom material. I'll bring it up to the admins, as said, because from the beginning I wanted there to be some control over CAMs, but when Robyn owned the site she insisted it should be a free-for-all. That's why they've been unmoderated up to this point. But I think it's time that changed. :}

And no, no one's content would be turned away for not being top-notch quality. It would just need to align with our site rules.

If you can tell me when the rule changed it would help. I have reason to believe that my CA was created mid January, 2011. If the rule changed January 1rst, the fine. When I created those wastes of money, they were legal. I asked staff members before so doing.

Yeah the rule has been in place for a lonngg time. There is nothing new about this news post. It is only reiterating.

I was actually surprised when I first joined and saw that it took almost nothing to get CAs on the site. I would be fine with staff looking over CAs before they can be confirmed and put on the site (as long as people weren't rejected for the CA not being a top quality drawing). I think using the argument "they already have so much to do" is weak. Either more staff can be added and/or there can be a new group of staff created that solely deal with CA copies and approvals. Maybe even a special testing group of staff that don't really have powers but test and find the bugs of new items etc. =)

I'm getting side tracked! xD

TL;DR: Nothing new here, just a reminder. I would be for having an approval process for new CAs.
