USD Sales

It has come to our attention that users are selling non-existent items for USD. That is to say, they're stating in exchange for USD, they'll create or buy items or customs for you on Alacrity.

This is not allowable.

This is essentially selling bones for USD, just phrasing it differently, and this is against our General Rule 7. We also have found this to be unfair to the users with the USD. Bones can be purchased on double bone specials for 2 bones to 1 USD. Users are often selling bone purchase items for 1 bone to 1 USD. Furthermore there are extra perks to donating to Alacrity.

If you donate $5 USD to Alacrity, which is enough to make a 10 bone custom if you donated on a double bone special, you also get our monthly celestial item. By donating $35, you get a magical item, this month being the Magical Water Bowl.

Don't have Paypal? You can send money via mail to Alacrity to donate as well!

As always, if you have questions about donating, you can submit to the Admin Hub! We are here to help!

Users are free to attempt to sell their accounts for USD so long as they're not selling bones along with it, or otherwise making a profit in real currency in exchange for bones. :)
That some players do that (sell or try to sell accounts for USD) doesn't have anything directly to do with this post, and isn't unfair. No one is required to purchase those accounts from them! After all, there are much easier ways to acquire an Alacrity account then by buying one from someone else. ;)

I have to agree. It isn't fair for a person like me, who's just joined a couple weeks ago, to actually play the game well because all I see are people overpricing simple objects for more than five bones. Then, on top of that, you have to pay one hundred real life bucks for someone's account, which doesn't make any sense to me either?
It's an account, guys. I've seen plenty of people selling theirs just for a handful of ALA cash, and they had all kinds of stuff on theirs, and they were happy starting over. It's as if most of the people on the site's forgotten the real worth of the site's currency, and how important bones are and the items that can be bought with them. Thanks so much for inforcing this, too, and I hope others learn from this. :3

Auction Stopgap

Hey, Alacrity.

For the time being we have asked our programmer to remove the feature allowing users to auction things for both cash and bones. This is a stopgap measure to prevent fraud/theft - as well as general inconvenience - resulting from the auction glitch.

The glitch occurs only in auctions with both cash and bone prices and often results in the rightful winner not receiving the dog - on top of that, it awards game-breaking numbers of bones to the auctioneer. Just yesterday this glitch nearly tripled the number of bones in our economy by awarding more than 51,000 free bones.

**EDIT** ALL FRAUDULENT BONES HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE SITE. Please feel free to move about the cabin. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

The Admin team would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Bobbie (29063), for being the only person involved to report the glitch. That kind of influx of free bones into our economy could easily have destroyed Alacrity financially. Bobbie's moral compass and quick thinking have saved us all a lot of rather dire trouble.

While we do not have a timetable on how long it will take us to finally eliminate this glitch (we've 'squashed' it before, only to have it return with more heads), this is not intended to be a permanent change. Selling for both cash and bones is a very useful feature that pretty much everyone likes, and we don't want to see it go.

Please bear with us. We hope to be able to remedy this as painlessly as possible.
All my adminny love
Kit

Update!
We believe we have all the bones removed and items returned, the users who were affected have been messaged. Thanks again to those who reported this!

The fraudulent bones have all been removed and all the transactions reversed. Please do not feel afraid to use your bones.

Go figure someone finally buys from my shop lol. I checked and see I have some bones in my till, but I wasn't sure if they were glitched. It says they were bought on the 20th, was this glitch only happening yesterday? I wasn't sure if we should collect from our till or not...
