The Modern World Part 1
Elize King wanted today to be great, but that's not how it went. Here is how it went:
It was The Last Day of School at 7:30am. Elize had to be at school for 8:30 so she splashed on some make-up that was right for her.
She straightened her hair and combed it 100 times on either side, because she heard it was good luck to do so. Then she threw on some skinnys and a yellow T-shirt with a black leather jacket.
When it was 8:15 Elize knew it was time to leave, she said good-bye to her Maltese Cloud and her parents. On her way to school she saw a deep muddy puddle in the way of her path. She tried her best to walk around it but then she slipped and fell right into it. Her hair was full of mud and became tangled, her jacket became a rugged mess, and so she took it off and threw it in her bag and continued walking, even though she was pissed. She HATED today so far and began to cry. Her mascara started running down her pale face even though she was determined she'd have the best day ever.
Elize stopped by the school and whipped out her pocket mirror from her purse. She tried to get out as much mud as she could and brushed her hair (well, at least the top of it.).
After she got to school she took out her S.S textbooks and she sat down at her desk. She began to drift off into a daydream and began doodling on the sides of the textbooks' pages when the silver-like tip of the 2B pencil broke. When she went to sharpen her pencil she tripped over a book bag and fell on her knees.
"Hehe, klutz." Mansi Martel, the grades bully and longtime bad girl chuckled.
"Mansi, I don't see why you laugh when people get hurt, It's a horrible way to live!" Elize said in an upset voice. It sounded as if she were about to cry.
"Mansi! That is enough!" Mrs. Minstile, the teacher of the 7th grade social studies said in her sternest voice. Mansi just rolled her eyes and walked out of the class.
Shortly it was Gym and Elize didn't want to change since it was so hard to put on, well, it wasn't but she still didn't want to change anyway. Elize "Planned" on making this a good day but gym made it so much worse, like she wasn't having problems before gym!
Elize tried to sneak past her gym teacher but it was no use, she was caught not changing so she was forced to. After Elize changed she walked as slow as possible so as to miss as much of class as she could, but when she walked in her teacher said "Elize! It's your turn to long jump!" That made matters worse. "Do I have to long jump?" Elize asked in her sweetest voice, hoping to get out of it.
"Yes you have to Elize. It is part of your class; everyone has done it before, even you! “Elize finally long jumped and when she began to run, Boom! Elize fell flat on her face from her untied shoelace.
"You ARE a klutz!" Mansi said. Just then Elise’s crush Brandon walked up to her and held out his hand. "Do you need help?" Brandon asked with an AMAZING smile. "No, I`m fine, I just need a new face!" Elize said in terror jokingly, Brandon chuckled and walked back to the bench.
Mansi began laughing and her to wannabee's, Krista and Katie laughed behind her, obviously forcing them. Mansi walked up to Elize and whispered in a menacing voice,
"Don't even think about it. Brandon's mine." And with that, she and her wannabee's left class early, as usual. Elize looked at the time on the big clock that was hanging on the wall of the blue-painted gym. She realized it was 9:45, and she was going to miss her next class. She got a glance of Brandon as he was leaving the gymnasium with his friends.
She admired his dirty-blonde locks of hair that slightly bobbed up and down as he walked, she adored his red gym shirt that was a little too big for the 7th grader, and just hung there like a swing. But most of all she simply was caught dumb-struck by his big blue eyes, that she didn't notice, traveled to hers. Once she realized Brandon was walking to the girl, she looked down at her shoelaces and began to tie them like nothing was wrong. When she looked up again, he was gone.
Once she was in the Changing room, tears simply flowed through her eyes and down her face. Why couldn't she just tell him, you might ask? Well, she almost got the strength to, when a voice in her head popped up.
"Brandon's mine." The echoing voice of Mansi kept replaying in her head. She just cried more and more until there were no more tears left. She finally changed and walked to class.
"And if you divide 48 by 4 what will you get?" The math teacher, Miss Hunkleberry. Miss Hunkleberry was a frail skinny lady in her mid-thirties to early-forties, nobody really knew. She had an odd taste in clothing, as she mixed granny shoes with mini-skirts often enough. Miss Hunkleberry had beautiful green eyes, but nobody saw them because they were always covered by big glasses.
Elize saw Danny Greene, Brandon's Best friend, Raise his hand. “is it 12?" He asked as if he already knew the answer.
"Very good, Danny! Everyone give him a round of applause!" Miss Hunkleberry said as she started clapping quietly in a small circle, as if her hands were on a Ferris wheel. Elize was not amused by the pun but clapped along with her, as the rest of the class did.
Elize hated math, and she often hid a calculator in her pocket so she could cheat if she didn't want to think. But this time she forgot it and she didn't realize she was sitting behind Mansi, not until she felt something pat the back of her head. When she felt the spot where she felt the pat, she felt something wet, and bunched up.
A SPITBALL.
Elize knew Mansi spit it and turned around to tell her off, But Miss Hunkleberry saw and thought that Elize turned to talk to Mansi, not tell her off.
"You remember the rule girls, no talking in class!" Miss Hunkleberry told them. As usual Mansi rolled her eyes at Elize and laughed. Elize felt a lump in her throat but she was holding back her tears.
Elize always dreamt about getting Mansi in trouble, but that seemed almost impossible. Mansi and her wannabees stood up and started walking down the isle of the desks and gave Miss Hunkleberry some money each, and then left the room.
Elize was so angry with Mansi because she simply gave the teacher some money and that made it OK for them to leave class 20 minutes early, it was no fair in Elise’s opinion, in fact, it was no fair in anyone's opinion.
Mansi's dad was a millionaire, and almost every 7th grader knew what it was like to have a kid whose dad is a millionaire in their class, it happens to me in every grade, because since nursery, Mansi has been in my class. She pisses everyone off and then she thinks everyone forgets about the stuff she does.
After math class Elize ran to her locker and started crying, it was a rough day and she wanted to go home so badly. There was 3 hours left of school, she thought about faking sick so that she could go home and lie down and maybe write in her diary, but she couldn't so she continued crying.
Just then she felt someone behind her but she wasn't sure. Elize didn't want to look because if she did someone would see her crying, and she didn't want that to happen. She was just about to tell them to go away when she heard the words
"It's Brandon, are you okay sweetie?'' Elize felt butterflies; she didn't want to say anything so she grabbed her sweater and ran down the hallway. Brandon felt bad and thought it was his fault. Shortly after the incident Elize ran into Brandon.
"Hey Elize, what happened?" Brandon asked "Oh, I was just upset and I felt a little bit sick, sorry if I hurt your feelings." Elize asked as she was choking up. "That's ok" Brandon said, and then he kissed Elize on the cheek and walked off. Elize drew a blank and then she laughed at herself for being so stupid all these years.
Turns out it wasn't that bad of a day! :)
It's very long, and funny to us...
