I like many people started HeartGold with my starter Pokemon Chikorita. Chikorita, and I did our entire journey with it evolved into Meganium at lv. 59. Together Meganium, Noctowl, Pikachu, Raticate, Espeon, and Jolteon conquered the Pokemon league, and finished the whole Pokedex, but my heart looked to train other Pokemon. It was on the grass right before Ecruteak that I stumbled upon a rare Pokemon. It was a shiny Growlithe. Shiny Growlithe are Yellow with black stripes instead of orange. This beautiful male I named Lightning. Lightning and I trained until he was lv. 50. Then I evolved him into a grand Arcanine. I love him so much. He was always first in my party, and was lv. 100 by the time Houndoom came into the mix. Using a special cheat code I caught a Houndoom from the elite four who had one. By now I don’t even remember which elite had this gorgeous girl. She and Arcanine did double battles with me, and nothing bad ever happened, until that fateful day when sides were picked, and I made the worst capture decision of my life. Using a special cheat I could catch any of the 493 Pokemon in the grass anywhere I went, I also used a shiny cheat. I saw what was the most powerful looking Absol I could ever have imagined. I had to capture it, not seeing any Masterballs I ran to my Ultra, and Dusk balls to help me. Within 40 of them I finally caught this elusive male Absul that instead of Black with white fur was Red with white fur, and had piercing blue eyes. The moment I started training him something felt different. I should have listened to myself that day. I just kept training, him and noticed that whenever I went up against another Pokemon, it never attacked my Absol. Even if Absol was lower leveled, or slower, it never got injured. I only took it to get its moved healed up at a Pokemon Center. I battled my friend with a level 70 Absol, and my level 56 Absol beat it with Sucker Punch. I freaked out, how could my lower leveled Absol be able to destroy an Absol that was much more powerful than it with only one move? My friend never wanted to battle me, knowing I would send out my Absol. The day would come where when Absol won, that I would get rid of it, and something in my head continued to tell me this Absol was different. I refused to listen until I noticed something when I battled Absol, and Lightning against two Pikachu’s. Lightning was much faster than Absol because it was level 100; Absol was level 76 by now. At first I sent out Lightning with my Houndoom who was also level 100. Then I wanted to see how Houndoom, and Absol worked so I switched out Lightning. Absol, didn’t attack first, my Houndoom did. I found it very weird so I quickly checked Houndoom’s stats, Houndoom was slower than Absol. “Ok that is definitely weird.” I said to myself. So I desided to swap Absol for Lightning to see if he would let her move first. He was faster so he moved first, and together they finished our battle against the Pikachu’s. I decided even though Absol was different it just meant that he was a great battle pokemon, and I was lucky to have found him. A week or so later I would have wished he had been someone else’s problem. I had just worked Houndoom to level 100, and Absol was just level 96 when I decided Lightning, and Absol have never fought together. I decided to find some trainer on Wi-Fi to battle. I found someone with a Meganium and a Glaceon, and a few others. I sent the two out, and it was the weirdest battle I had ever seen. I had Lightning set up to use Flamethrower, and Absol to use sucker punch. Absol as usual attacked first, and knocked out their first Pokemon. They sent out two more that I forget, and it was Lightning’s turn to attack. However, it said instead of Lightning missed this Pokemon it said Lightning refuses to attack. After Absol beat the other two Pokemon I looked at Lightning’s sprite. It had a really agitated expression with flames shooting from its ears. I googles the image, and came up with nothing. I thought it was a game glitch. The next day I would be wrong, and wish these three Pokemon I loved would have never entered my life. The next day, I awoke to see my DS was turned off, but a white light was shining from inside it. I opened it up, and the sight there was one I would hate to have anyone see, even my enemies. Houndoom was sitting on the side of a battle field coated in blood that came from Absol, and Lightning. Absol’s tail was ripped completely off, and the bone barely holding on. Blood was still softely oozing out of it. His claws were mostly gone, and only holes where they once were, had blood spitting out. His ears were barely there, and I doubt he could hear. He had a large slash ripped in his face, and most of his soft white fur was burned, or matted with blood. Lightning was far worse. His tailed was gone, not a single hair was left, or even the bones which I saw to the left of him. His ears were split off, and blood was gushing from both holes. Three of his toes were split clean off, bone, and all. Two of his legs were ripped open clear to the bone, all matted with blood. One eye dangled from its socked, where one of Absol’s claws lay embedded deep into it. Its once gorgeous Yellow Fur was now orange with blood. It lay off to the side gasping for breath. Then all of why this happened became clear. I knew that both of them were males so had they fought over my Houndoom who was sitting on the sidelines. I screamed into the microphone why they had almost killed themselves. The angle zoomed in on Lightning, and as he made his Arcanine sounds they were translated in writing. “I always had a sweet spot for Houndoom, but I never wanted to be more than friends, and battling partners for you.” “What happened, why are you almost dead?” I was so scared I just didn’t know what to do except get to the bottom of what happened. Absol hobbled over to where he could I guess see me. He snarled through clenched teeth “I am the most powerful Pokemon in the world, and yet you still wanted these others. You are a fool to think I could ever lose. When I saw you walking to Ecruteak with a Shiny powerful Arcanine I knew you would be perfect to team up with because all other trainers that have found me are too weak.” “But why, why have you almost killed my Lightning?” I was crying at this point because in my heart I knew Lightning would be gone. “Lightning would have been fine had he stayed away from her.” He then pointed over to where Houndoom lay. “What do mean stayed away from her?” They have been together for a very long time. There was no problem with her. I was now starting to get a picture, but not a very large one. “She has been the last piece to my plan the minute I saw her that first day when you caught me, but Lightning sensed something. He knew my power, and he kept her far away from me. I may be able to destroy Pokemon with a single attack, but I could never destroy the world’s weak Pokemon by myself. I would need more Absol, or Houndour/Houndoom babies to help me. She would have given me those, but he stopped me, and said I had no business trying to get her. That if you wanted to breed me to her, than you would. I didn’t care what he thought, and ripped at him. That’s how this all happened.” I was so upset, and confused that I said this. “I don’t care about you being the best Pokemon, you never needed to be that. I just liked Absol, and caught the first one I saw. I never knew it would have led us all to this.” Lightning spoke now. “I just could not let him get to her. She was such a precious thing, how would I have lived to know she was nothing more than a breeding tool to him? I know she loves you, and never once loved him. I don’t think she was even focused on breeding. She just wanted to battle. That is what her previous owner did with her, and that is what she expected with you.” His breathing became more, and more labored, and he died there right before me. Pokemon weren’t supposed to die, in fact none of this whole thing was supposed to be happening. Then in the upper head corner I saw Houndoom silently coming up behind Absol. I knew she was going to hurt him, but I also knew she probably wasn’t going to win. “You are going to pay for taking Lightning from me!” Absol whirled around, and saw Houndoom release the most powerful fire blast any Pokemon had ever released. The full blast went on for 4 minutes. When it was over Houndoom was the only one left. I closed my DS, and never played the game again.
