Artist Challenge #2
Started By
Welcome, Alacrites, to the second Artist Challenge!
So, I'm assuming you have questions! Here's some quick answers:
Q What's an Artist Challenge?
A: A more-or-less bi-weekly art contest where entries must be based on a given prompt, to be provided by me, Kittybot!
Q Who can enter?
A: Anyone! HOWEVER, some people's entries cannot be considered for judging. Site artists - people with paint palette deedles - and anyone who has won the immediately preceeding Challenge are disqualified from winning.
Q A contest, eh? What are the prizes?
A: There are two First Place prizes every Challenge: the Top Quality prize, for whichever artwork is deemed to be the most technically skilled and aesthetically pleasing while suiting the prompt and remaining within the rules, and the Best Concept prize, for whichever entry the judges feel makes best use of the prompt, is the most interesting, etc. There will also be two-to-four Runner Up prizes (evenly split between Top Quality and Best Concept), depending on how many entries are in the Challenge.
The prizes will be as follows:
Top Quality: 5 bones, and a banner proclaiming your winner's status.
Best Concept: 5 bones, and a banner proclaiming your winner's status.
Runner Up: A banner proclaiming your runner up status.
Q Why should I enter?
A: The Artist Challenge is designed to be a way for unknown artists to get the recognition they deserve (and for well-known artists to share more of their art with the rest of the site). I can guarantee that people will be scoping out the entries when they want to decide who to commission on Alacrity. It's a great way to showcase your talent and your creative ingenuity. Even if you don't feel your skills are quite up to scratch, you still have a chance at that Best Concept prize, and there will be a formal Critique Arena if you want to get opinions and helpful advice on your artwork! The prompts will be challenging and will get you out of your comfort zone, learning new things with your art. Plus, it's.. you know... fun! :D
Q Who are the judges?
A:Myself, Carnivale, and Xylax.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rules:
1.) Site Artists and winners of the previous Challenge may display their artwork, but cannot win a prize.
2.) Artwork must follow site rules of display. No obscenity, nudity ('parts showing'), offensive entries, trademarked characters, copyright violations, et cetera.
3.) Each user may create as many entries as they like. However, no user may win more than one prize per round - multiple entries will not get you multiple prizes.
4.) Each entry must consist of a Work In Progress (WIP) image and the final completed image. This is to reassure the judges that you drew it yourself. So don't forget that progress shot!
5.) Artwork must be created new especially for the Challenge. No previously existing images may be submitted.
6.) Artwork must follow the given prompt. Artwork which deviates from this, or from the rules of the Challenge, will be disqualified.
7.) Lucky number seven!
-------------------------------------------------------------
This time's prompt: hands! Every artist's nightmare. Provide a fully developed image of hands doing something interesting!
NO HAND-TURKEYS unless you are getting really seriously creative with that stuff.
The deadline for this round isThursday, November 24 extended to Sunday, November 27 because of Thanksgiving.

Nope, it doesn't have to have anything to do with a dog.
