Good news and some bad news. -update-
Started By
So I have some good and bad news, but I am going to start off with the bad news...

My little hamster Kiwi is ill.

My mom and sis are probably worried about me, so they asked me on Sunday if I were to get a new pet what would it be? I quickly replied: a dog. I love dogs, and my sis said she 'knew it'.

So my mom says well we shall get you a new puppy, I was excited. So we go off and do our doggy 'homework'. We have decided that we want a small, non shedding, trainable dog, that is ok with other dogs (we have already have a toy poodle although he is a family dog, my mom wants to get me my own dog). So we narrowed it down to Bishon Frise or another toy poodle. But I am leaning towards Bishon Frise, my mom bought me a magizine that talks about them. And their cons and pros, plus how to take care of them.

I guess all I want now is some feedback :)

Edit; My hamster Kiwi died last week on Fevruary 10th, I miss her greatly and I am happy she no longer has to suffer. Also I am getting my puppy this weekend so I will be busy taking care of it.

Oh I had no idea it was too small, but I did talk to my mom about taking her to the Vet. She said it is a waste of time and money, and well...I don't have the money either.

Her cage is mainly 'bars' so she gets plenty of air going through. The fluffy bedding is from PetCo.

Ah okay, as a dwarf her life span is generally shorter, 2-3 years being a good age for 'em.

Is it the fluffy bedding from Wal Mart?

Vets for hamsters are usually not too expensive, especially not compared to dogs. Most exotic vets will take hamsters.

Your cage is a bit too small. Dwarf hamsters need 200 square inches as a general minimum and your cage is about 112- which isn't too bad. Does it have decent ventilation? If her bedding is too dusty and can't escape the cage through vents, it could irritate her eyes/nose/lungs and cause health issues.

Well her bedding is the grey stuff, whose name I cannot remember (it's kinda fluffy). She has about a 14 inch long by 8 inshes width, and about 16 inchs tall cage. She is also a dwarf hamster, so I thought it was the perfect size.

Plus there is a little compartment on top, so she can roam around there.
And I have no idea where I could take her to the vet (or a vet that would actually/or could help) I also don't think my parents want to pay for any vet bills, but I can ask.

Kiwi sounds like she's got a few different problems going on. Is there any possible way you can take her to a vet? Hamsters can live 3-4 years so she really shouldn't be dying of anything like old age right now. What size cage do you have her in, and what kind of bedding? The eye thing could be an allergic reaction to her bedding.
