Rude People and Heart Breaking Animal Pound

This is a small vent.

So last month I had to put my senior dog down, Pupper Dog. I had only had him 4 years after adopting him but it was the best four years of my and his life. After his loss I started searching for another dog to adopt so like most I went down to my local SPCA. While looking at the dogs some arrogant, annoying, words-I-can't-use, man walks up to me and engages in conversation. At first he sounded pleasant and was just simply chatting and when he questioned me on what kind of dog I was searching for. I replied that I was simply looking for a friend, nothing about the dog mattered really. He then produced to tell me that I should stay away from every Pitbull, or any dog that looks like a Pit because 'they are all dangerous and should just be put to sleep right away.'. Most of you don't know but I have a very, very, short fuse. To avoid a full-on fist fight I walked away without saying a word. Most people would take the hint but no, not him, he followed me. Continuing to talk about how they are horrible and terrible and how most dogs are and we'd all be better off if they were all put down. I was about to lose it, I honestly don't know how I didn't. I actually had to leave the building, get in my car, and drive away in order for that guy to stop. I was just furious, the nerve of some people. Needless to say I haven't returned, and it will be a long time before I will.

Now, after all of this I ended up looking online at a kill pound not to far from me. On the site there was a white Pitbull puppy with a black ear, she was at most 8 months and look terrified out of her mind. I called right away and after filling out the application online, emailing it to them, and getting approval I told them I'd be down in two days to pick her up. She was on hold, so she couldn't be put down. After the two days of preparing, puppy proofing, and buying the things for her, I went down to get her. When I got there and gave them all of the paperwork, adoption fee, her ID and all of that hulla-ba-loo they told me she was no longer there. I questioned them as to why and they told me she had been euthanized! Her ID had gotten confused with another dog's ID and in the end both left this world.

I just left, didn't want my fee back or any of the papers. I have no words to say how wrong it was of them to not only put a puppy down, put to put the other dog down anyways. I have paused my search for a dog, I never met her but I still need the time to morn. I am unsure if I want to try adopting through that place again but do it as a walk in-walk out adoption so I'd leave with the dog or if I want to move on.

I know one thing, with all of the pink stuff around my house now it'll have to be a female dog.

(I just needed to vent and get it all out, to much emotion to keep buried inside)
