Are Blonde Jokes Offensive

I beleive they can be affensive towards blondes because it singles them out. But some blondes just laugh at them what do you think ?

Stereotype jokes about someone who is dumb purely based on their appearance is offensive, yes.

Well I'm a brunette but my friends call me a blonde. But it really doesn't bother me. It's just the stereo types.

I\'m fine if a person makes one or two blonde jokes. BUT, when they continue to tell them, it gets on my nerve. After me or someone else clearly stated that they\'d prefer it if they stop the jokes. <br /> <br /> On another hand, I absolutely despise it when the blonde jokes are aimed at me. I tend to get hostile (furious or outraged) by it, and even more so if its aimed toward a friend.<br /> <br /> For example, about a week or so ago, I said something I thought was right in algebra. I was wrong. Another girl said \"wow how could you get that wrong? Its not that hard.\" Then one of her friends butted in and said \"well, she is one of those dumb blondes!\" And the class gave a little giggle. I\'ve never been so mad in my life.<br /> <br /> I\'ve had many more insulting encounters but that was only a minor. br /> Sorry this was kind of a rant. <br /> <br /> But to sum it up, blonde jokes are okay to some extent, but people should know when to stop and think about what they are saying.

I think blonde jokes are fine as long as they are clearly in a joke context. I'm a (natural) blonde, and sometimes people make "blonde jokes" out of a joke context. I've had people (even friends) retort something I say or different opinion I have with "Well, you <i>are</i> a blonde" or "you're just a dumb blonde". That tends to be more hurtful because it <i>is</i> personal even if the person is just kidding. I don't think things like that are acceptable. The clear cut jokes I think are fine, and I laugh along with them.

I don't think they're offensive at all. They're meant to be funny, not mean. I have blonde friends, and they laugh when someone tells a blonde joke. They tell them, too.<br /> <br /> They could be taken offensively, but I think most of the time they aren't meant to be offensive.

not at all. im blonde and i had blonde jokes thrown at me, but it doesn't bother me because i have the highest gpa. as long as it's nothing like "she's blonde so she's probably a umm...it rhymes with trank or plut" because that has the potential to be offensive but if it's anything under that im sure it's just simple good humor. i had an Extremely Over sensative friend and she never complained about blonde jokes.

I don't think they're offensive. I mean, I've got brown hair, so they aren't really aimed at me, but I would just laugh about it.<br /> <br /> But the thing is: I'm Polish. How many of you have heard "How many Poles does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Three; one to hold the bulb and two to turn the ladder." I think that's funny and not offensive in any way. So my point being I think that people should learn to laugh at stereotypical jokes and not take them seriously.

In my personal opinion, the "blond" stereotype is gross. Being as I'm morally opposed to stereotyping, I find blond jokes offensive. Also, some people who are blond ARE INTELLIGENT. I really don't think blond jokes should be pointed at blonds.<br /> <br /> That being said, I'm blond...

I think that as long as they aren't used maliciously; you know, actively making fun of someone; they can be funny. Basically I agree with what Buddy said. :P

As a person who has been blond and brunette at the same time...<br /><br />Not offensive. People need to stop getting their panties in a bunch. "Leik, omg!! U makin fun o me!!11!!"<br /><br />I had a girl in my class that got severely offended when I referred to someone's personality as "blond". I was having a conversation with my teacher and coach and she looks at me and says, rather irritated "I'm blond." <br />I turned to her and said "Yes, you're blond. But you're not stupid blond."<br /><br />It can be taken in different contexts. Not everyone who is blond is dumb, not everyone who is dumb isn't blond. It's a stereotypical thing. Not all blonds are like that. <br /><br />You have to have a sense of humor. If you don't...eh. I can see why being social would be a problem for you.
In response to June, I'm brunette and still have people refer to me as "blond" when I do something ditsy.

I'm blonde. :D <br />Blonde jokes are quite funny, I like to hear them! XD <br /><br />But then, I'm a bit disappointed that they single blonde's out. Why blonde's? <br /><br />Also if I make a mistake in anything I do, someone go's 'Hah your such a blonde!' It doesn't really bug me, but I just want to know what blonde's did to get all the jokes?

I personally don't find it offensive in the least. But then again, I am not a blonde. I have many friends who are though and they laugh along with the rest of us. And I agree is DOES also depend on the blonde in question. Most people don't really think that blondes are dumb, and to be honest I don't know where the whole thing came from. But people of other hair colors get made fun of as well (i.e red heads). In closing it depends on how it is said. Tone of voice and how you present it is everything.

Not offensive if done in good humour. <br /><br />I suppose they can be hurtful if the intent is to injure someone, but that's true for anything. You can hurt someone by saying "hi" if the intent is bad.

I find them completely unnoffensive, unless they are ill-intntioned. I am not a blonde, but I have two or three friends who are, and they find them funny, unlesss they are being said in a not-funny way. I also think that if a person TRULY thinks that blonds are dumb, they are dumb themselves.

<i>"How would YOU feel if someone made fun of you because of what color your hair is?"</i><br /><br />Not blond as stated previously, but I have been made fun of for my hair color. And several other physical traits, extensively over the years, lol. I learned to not mind it around 1st grade. People can be jerks, and I have bigger things to worry over than the opinion of someone I don't care about regarding how much melanin is in my hair/what color I chose to dye it.

Well, I am a blond and sometimes, they are VERY offensive, ya know? How would YOU feel if someone made fun of you because of what color your hair is? I hate blond jokes. They offend me quite deeply. I mean to be honest, I am the smartest girl in my whole grade and I am a blond. So I am just saying, sometimes they can be a joke worth chuckling about and sometimes...they can bring tears to my eyes.

I think there are other much more important things in this world to get worked up over.<br /><br />If I hear a 'stereotype joke' that's meant to be genuinely offensive, it tends to just strike me as pathetic/someone trying to act edgy and failing.<br /><br /><i>Usually</i> the ones aimed at me are in good humor, though, and they make me laugh. I'm not blond, but I leave myself open for other jokes. ;)
