Well, wine is all I can think of. And they used wine to celebrate.

They did indeed have certain drugs and alcohol available way back then, and they'd consume them often.

*sigh* Dark, I just said that God gives us CHOICES. Our time on Earth is not just because, it's a test to see where we belong - heaven or hell. What we choose to beleive changes our final outcome. I don't know what yours will be, and I don't know what mine will be.

And do you think they had drugs back in 200 BC? I doubt they even wanted to get wasted back then beacuse they were at ris to being eaten by a lion or something.

I try to respect all religions, but when someone questions mine I will stand up for it.
I don't know it's true. You don't know it's true. None of us will know until we die. There's just faith and beleif - that's all we've got here on Earth.

And Roo, Catholics are great people. They have lots of great ideas for unexplainable things.

the voice of 'god' was probably the voice of drugs, alcohol, or schizophrenia.
and what i don't get? if your 'god' supposedly created everyone, and controls them, then why wouldn't he make everyone christian? you people say he has the power. and honestly, i would die for my religion. so if your 'god' is going to kill me for being what i love, so be it! i know Goddess will reward me for being loyal.

Many many people wrote the Bible over years out of experience, their dreams, and the voice of GOD that they heard. It wasn't one person.

And Jesus wrote Revelations, and therefore contains true details of what will happen when the world ends. All sinners who have not accepted Jesus and God into their hearts and minds will be punished for their mistakes and wrongdoing. Those who accepted him will be rewarded for making the right choice by being sent to heaven before the torture ensues.

How do you know for sure that your religion is correct? What makes Judaism, Islam, or even atheism wrong?

I'm Catholic and I believe in evolution. I believe God got the ball rolling and let it go from there. I also don't try to convert people. I don't see the point, honestly. If someone can't find God on their own, me forcing them to believe in God isn't going to get them anywhere. But don't think it only goes one way, that Christians look down on other religions for not being Christian. I tell people I'm Catholic, and I get this sidelong glance that says "Wow, you must be a closed-minded bigot who hates every other religion on earth."

As for having "My God is rising" in a username, I don't see why it's so bad. It's essentially like stating "I'm Christian." I also don't see a problem with having a phrase that gently says "I'm atheist" or "I'm Muslim" or "I'm Wiccan". That's part of who you are, your identity. But don't go and change it to something like "God does not exist", because that's just antagonistic. If you're going to embrace your religion (or lack thereof), do it nicely. "Your God is not my God" or "so-and-so (is an atheist and proud!)" or something. Be proud of your religion/lack of religion/identity - and the best way to show your pride is to be positive about your beliefs and the beliefs of others.

Well, this is just typical religion. When asked to explain their stance, they come up with excuses as to why it can't be explained.

07-27-2011 at 12:59 AM
No. God didn't come from anywhere. He was there. He was always there. He always will be there. Of course I cannot explain it, because I am mere human and a child at that, therefore I can know absolutely nothing of holy knowledge, as it is too complex for the human mind. God created us with curiousity, but to be unable to know things of that stature for a reason - it would make us as smart as God and therefore able to defy him in such a way that... *shutters* Can't say.

This post is a bit late, but, I don't think it's right to have a debate topic directly targeting a user like this.

Here is my personal theory.
Goddess created the earth, but she said she wanted it to do something for it's self, so she gave it a piece of bacteria and let it evolve.
and the guy practically shoved the bible into my hand. I was contemplating burning it, but i didn't want to light myself on fire. And who do you think wrote the bible? I think it was some crazy guy who wanted to write a fictional novel.

07-27-2011 at 12:54 AM
So you believe in God because it explains everything. But you can't explain where God came from.

07-27-2011 at 12:54 AM
no one knows and thats also something you arent supossed to know EVERYTHING

07-27-2011 at 12:52 AM
