Santa Paws: 4 Days Left -- Entire Choco Cake!
Started By
Santa Paws his holding daily drawings for special items up until Christmas! These drawings will be posted each day both here, in the news, as well as in Mini Updates/Admin Updates, at some point before midnight. There is one prize per drawing and it's completely up to chance (haha, NOT the companion!) to choose the winner. The rules are simple and they are straightforward, but they are not to be trifled with.

Read the Rules!:
1.) Post ONCE in this thread before Midnight Ala time, on the day the thread is posted in order to be entered into the drawing. (If you post more than once, you may be disqualified from the running)
2.) You may post once per account.
3.) Players found creating more than the 2 allowed accounts to enter these contests will be BANNED from Alacrity; no exceptions. Don't do it -- we hate banning people.
4.) All Alacrity standard rules still apply! If you're not familiar with them, please take some time to do so -- you can find the link at the bottom of every page!
5.) We don't care what your post says, provided you follow the above rules, although Santa Paws is also picking a secondary winner based on criteria listed at the end of this post :)

This drawing will be for: an Entire Ultra Fancy Chocolate Cake!

The winner will receive an Entire Ultra Fancy Chocolate Cake, which has five uses and gives the dog you feed a piece to -10 Hunger, +50 Energy, +5 speed, and +5 drive!!

P.S. Santa Paws told me he'll pull this round's second winner based on the best gift you ever received and why. We want to hear about the coolest thing you ever had gifted to you, but more importantly, WHY it was so special to you. It's the "why" that counts for this one :D

The best gift I ever recieved is my baby, Cooper, pictured in my avatar. There's no better present in the world. He wasn't really a Christmas or Hannukah present, more of a latelatelate birthday. We had been looking for an adult border collie to do agility with, and on February 4th, 2011 we decided, just 'cause to visit the humane society, and saw him, cuddled up in someone else's arms. We hadn't even met him yet but we were heartbroken.....until we found out she was a volunteer! So, instead of an adult border collie, we came home with him...an 8-10 week old puppy, filled with joy, cuddles and kisses. <3 I never could have asked for anything better. ilu Cooper. <3

Just posting. None of my Christmas gifts have ever been exceptional. xD Most of the stuff I really want aren't things and I don't get those as gifts.

I literally got a pony for Christmas! He is a beautiful, sweet, gentle, obedient, athletic, perfect thoroughbred and I couldn't have found a better gift if I searched the entire planet. Not only is he a great horse, but my family cared enough to give him to me, and that's why he means so much to me!

The best gift I ever got was when my cat had her kittens early Christmas morning.

My most precious gift was about 5 or 6 years ago, when I got my leopard gecko <3 He has been a source of precocious cuteness and my muse ever since. Half of my novels would not be without my lovely. Love you, Gladdy! :`D

My best Christmas gift was this year because I got to pick up my dog Smudge (Which I haven't seen since last summer because I had to give her to my grandparents when I moved) this morning from the vets to see that she was okay because last week she was brought in when her face swelled (spider bite they think), but after that they found out that she had heartworms. After worrying that she wasn't going to make it I'm just happy to see her home before Christmas, so we can spend another one together :3

The best gift I have ever gotten period, would have to be three simple words; Yes.
For ten long years I had bugged my parents about allowing us to have a dog again. We had a Rottie, Max, when I was five. My brother never even got to play with him because he was to small, therefore he does not remember what a good dog Max was. My sister and I do. (Which explains why she now has two Rotties.) Max was one of those rare dogs that was just good beyond believe without any proper training, socialization, etc. Sadly Max had to be put down due to a heart related illness (which to be honest, and I hate saying this, was probably a blessing in disguise because he had early onset hip dysplasia.)

My mom does not like dogs. She is a cat person all the way. "Cats take care of themselves." (Yeah right, who cleans their litter box?) Anyways, I am not saying I dislike cats. I love cats. However, I have never gotten a cat to love me unconditionally. Mine have all been aloof and independent, only wanting to cuddle when they so chose. I wanted more than that. I wanted a friend with a cold nose and wet slobbery kisses. I wanted a friend like I had in Max. (Not that I would dare eat my dog's food now. Lol!)

Driving home from the lake about mid-November around about midnight, I was at it again, pestering my parents about getting a puppy. I had tried all the tricks before, making power points, pamphlets, and promising outlandish things. Nothing had worked. By now I was only half heartedly trying to make conversation to keep both myself and my dad awake on the trip back while everyone else slept. That has always been our routine. This is it was different though. When I asked he actually said yes. I could not believe my ears. I even woke my sister up for a witness. He repeated it. Then I had asked if mom was ok with it. He said they had been discussing it for a while now, and yes we could have a puppy.

Then we talked logistics. Would we rescue? Where would it sleep? Boy or girl? What breed? It had to be around 20lbs because my mom did not want to see “big poop” in the yard. I told her we would have to travel with a smaller dog and could not leave it home in the yard. She was fine with that (now I am sure she wishes I had gotten the Great Dane I had asked for so we could leave the dog at home).

I wanted a female. I did not want to rescue, as much as I love rescue dogs I wanted to show my dog. I loved dogs dearly, I still do, and I figured that’d be a good atmosphere for me. I really wanted a large dog; Great Dane, Saluki, Borzoi, etc. We had the room for one, so why not? Like I said my mom is not a dog person. So small dog it was. Oh and there were more restrictions. She couldn’t bark, shed, or smell. I would like to know about this magic breed that does not bark, shed, smell, is obedient, and fits in your pocket. So I did research. TONS of research. I compiled a list of my favorite breeds, their pros and cons and had my mom flip through them. Turns out I like skinny streamline dogs with pointy noses and she likes fat wrinkly dogs. I had no idea she had to approve its looks too! I told her she would have to give some. I could not meet her on ALL of her standards.

So we all finally agreed on Shiba Inus. Even my brother did. Oh did I mention we were getting two dogs? Yeah, he weaseled his way into all of my hard work and did not hit a lick of research. But whatever, I am used to nonsense like this. Shibas do not have that “doggie odor”, they rarely bark, they do shed (but no more than a cat), and they are around 20lbs. Fun fact, the females are skinny, streamline, and have pointy noses while the males are bulkier. Perfect. I got a female. My brother a male. No they aren’t related at all.

But to be honest I got two dogs. I take care of them both. And it has nothing to do with my brother’s age, he is fifteen. He is just lazy. I can’t neglect poor Rusty. So when I walk Daisy he gets dragged along. When I brush Daisy’s teeth, his are brushed too. Same goes for baths, nails, Frontline, Interceptor, ect. As much as it frustrates me I love every minute of it. <3

That was the best gift ever, those three letter; Yes.

The best gift I have ever gotten for Christmas would have to be my Wacom tablet. Here is why:

I love to draw. I always have. I am decent at it too, I'm an abstract artist. My tools are normally Prisma Color pencils, water colors, and ink though. I so wanted to try to draw stuff on the computer. However I just had paint. People and their online art just amazed me. I wanted to be that good. (I still want to be that good. Lol.) My tablet allows me to practice and hone my skills, it also gave me Photoshop and Corel painter. So as soon as I figure out just exactly how to perfect me anatomy I'll put my art out there for others to see. <3
I have gotten a lot for christmas but sometimes life deides to give you the best one a while fter christmas. when i was about 10 or 11, i was leaving with my dad. He had a girl he hung out with down the road. Me and my siblings did to because she had two boys of her owen, so we were all friends. but right before christmas her dog, i think it was a lab and somthhing mixed.i;m not to sure, had puppies, The father happened to be the brother of the og we hade at the time. The dad was an all black. its funny the fathers sister, which we had, was named ginger, out of their litter she was the only tall one. she was all white with a black ear and some black spots. she was like a bird dog. Anywway i'm rambling back o the story. well i felll in love with one of the pups from the ltter my dad's friend had. i asked my dad if i could get it but he keep saying no, we have a dog.finally when the pups were ready to go, my dad;s friend had to go off for the weekand and asked up to walk down and take care of the pups for them. we agreed. so the next day i brought the puppy i loved home. My dad happenned to br sleeping. my other dog ginger ran to me and strted sniffing the dog and hitting m dad with her wagging tail/ i laid the puppy down on my ded and ;et her crawla round. he really wasn't mad when he wok. he just stated baby talking her. So when the people came back, we drove past the house with the [up and my dad leaned out the windeow and said "Hey don't worry about this pup. were going to keep it." I was so happy. and she was basicaly my dog.. my fiist one on my own. I named her Angel.i had it piked out since i first saw her. Angel grew up to be short like a basset hound. she was all brown except for a white str on her chest. She loved to snuggle and sleep with me on the bed. but when i moved to my mom it took me while to convince her to take the dog. We had her for a year or two and she just nannyoed my mom and step dad. So sadly,i had to give her away.. miss my Angel and i wish i could have her in my arms again. That would be an awsome christmas present this year.

My best Christmas present was one that I received two years ago from my best friend's parents - a plane ticket to Key West, Florida.

I met my best friend my Sophomore year of high school. I have loads and loads of friends, but I've always had problems making close friends, so I've always felt like I just have loads and loads of acquaintances. Even my "best friends" throughout elementary and middle school had just been the people that I happened to end up hanging out with the most, not the people I was particularly close with. But for some reason this girl and I hit it off immediately and we were basically inseparable. I even became really close to her parents and sister, so that I was going on vacations with them, eating dinner over at their house basically every day, and I was always included in the family plans. Her parents even called me their third daughter. She was a year below me in school, so when I graduated and went to college she stayed behind, but my university was only about two hours away, so I'd drive her up every weekend and she'd spend the night at my dorm.

But after SHE graduated from high school, her mom's job moved back to Key West, Florida (where they were originally from). We were both devastated, and it was particularly hard for her because she hated Key West since it's so filled with tourists that it doesn't offer a lot for the people who live there full-time. We kept in touch online, and I don't mean the way people usually do through facebook messages or emails. We were talking on instant messengers with each other basically all hours of the day. It was still really awkward though - talking to someone online when the norm for me was seeing them every day.

So it's pretty obvious why the plane trip to Key West for Christmas that one year was so important. Even though I got some bizarre, awful illness the last couple of days I was there, it was still really great seeing her and her family again - people I love like my own family.

And this story has a happy ending, because after just a couple years away, they moved back into their old house. :3
