Teiden smiled as he padded through the dark street. His blue eyes shined from the full moon over his head. He was in a happy mood. Why you ask? Because tonight was Halloween and he had planned to have as much fun as possible. He padded ahead until the first house appeared. Its yard was filled to the brim with skeletons, witches, and monsters .He grinned when he saw a group of Border collie pups walk his direction. The pups’ faces where filled with joy as their bags where full of Halloween goodness. He slipped into the shadows. His naturally ghost coat made him blend in perfectly. He became still. He eyes watched as the pups came closer and closer. Then when they were a tail length away, He rushed out his hiding spot howling, making himself sound as much as a monster as he could. The pups’ jumped in shook. They dropped they goodie bags and screamed running back down the street. Teiden laughed so hard tears came out his eyes. That was so fun, he thought going over and sniffing the bags the pup’s left. He found himself a few treats and ate them. He couldn’t wait to find another group of pups to scare. He looked up and saw the parents of the pups running toward him. Opps time to go, he thought taking off into the woods. He ran to the middle of the woods and looked back. He saw no one behind him as he caught his breath. He plopped down on the ground. That was too close. He looked around. The woods were dark. Fog misted over the ground. He heard the wind whistle through the trees. A movement caught his attention. He’s glaze instantly looked over at it but saw nothing. Shivers ran down his back.

“Who’s there,” he called out. He voice shook. No one answered. He saw movement again, this time a large black shape with glowing red eyes stood there. The thing had black drool dripping out of his muzzle which was filled with sharp yellow teeth. Teiden eyes widen in fear, His tail went straight between his legs. The thing suddenly rushed his and growled. Teiden yelped and took off running home. He didn’t stop till he was curled up on his bed. He did his best to control his shaking but he was failing. Back in the woods laughter filled the air as Toukon pulled the mask off his face. His brown eyes filled with joy. Another Border collie walked over to him. Toukon smiled at her.

“There you go ma’am. He won’t be scaring anymore kids for a long time”. The other dog nodded and left. Hours later Toukon walked home. He slipped inside and checked on Teiden. The husky was asleep around a teddy bear, Toukon smiled. He hoped that the young pup had learned a valuable lesson tonight.
The house was dark and my owner had left for the evening; out with some friends to a fun, Halloween party, dressed in a brightly colored costume with bells and scraps of fabric. I remember how excited she was, prancing around in her jester costume like a young girl would, acting like a princess. It made me laugh a bit. Being as old as I am, but not too old to have fun, I shared her joy as she danced around me; I remember feeling like a puppy. She dressed me up in an adorable little top-hat and a harness, calling me her, “partner-in-crime.” She got down to eye-level with me and said, “Little Silhouette, you’re my pooch and my protector. Now watch the house for me while I’m gone.”

After she left, I just relaxed on the ground in front of a small, electric fire place and sought to sleep the rest of the night; however, my plans were disrupted to the sound of scuffles in the distance. I stood up to my fours, slowly approaching the noise and pushed myself to stay brave, like my owner had depended on me to be. Turning around the corner, the scent of the October air ran through my nasal cavities; the front door was open. My eyes lingered around to the outside, spotting an orange demon that sat on the stoop. It was small – I could easily take it down. Carefully, I approached them, lowering to the ground in a creeping crawl. There was something glowing on the inside, but I couldn’t tell what it was. Slowly, I moved around, only to stare at the angry face of the orange monster; the wind began to blow, and the light on the inside of it disappeared. Instantly, I took this as my chance to strike. My front paws lifted off the ground as I snapped at the circular figure, pouncing on the intruder, “Take that, you fiend!” I let out, shoving it down the stoop and throwing it up in the air, thrashing around violently. The casualty of this one was a success; however, the fight was not over.

As I turned around, my eyes widened to the sight of more, sitting on the stairs, glaring at me. I had just annihilated their brethren and all of their faces were twisted in anger. Quickly, I took my guard, lowering my head and letting my tail stand erect behind me. My lips curled in a snarl, revealing my fangs to the threatening smiles. Some of their lights were out and those were the ones I would go after first. As I lashed out, throwing some up in the air and kicking the others, one fell on my head, and wouldn’t let go. I thrashed around, until I stumbled down the steps. The sound of laughter was heard from behind me – It sounded a lot like my owner. Quickly I turned around and barked, pleading her to run away as I fought. Quickly she rushed over to my side, giggling. I couldn’t understand exactly why she was laughing when these monsters were attacking me. She got down to eye level and pulled the monster off of my head and smiled to me. “You silly goose, I go away for an hour or two and you’ve destroyed my pumpkins...” I became confused and dazed, looking around me at the now, smashed fruits. A sigh was let out as I looked up at my owner with pitiful eyes of apology. She only smiled, petting me on the head. “Come on, let’s get you cleaned up.”

I was relieved that she wasn’t mad, following her inside, wagging my tail with happiness. Now that she was home, I didn’t have to worry. “Wait a second… How… did you get outside, Silhouette?” I froze, looking up at her with confusion. There was still a mystery afoot…. Who left the door open then?

Starring: Silhouette, the German Shepherd.

Scary Night

"This is it, the time of the year to go trick-or-treating!" said Shooter the pittbull. He is a very handsome man, brave also, he loves Halloween as much as he loves his family members. "Come on little ones lets go get your costumes on and out we go!' said Beauty Baby the wife of Shooter. The kids hurried up and ran outside with there Halloween costumes and some pillow cases, and also the parents(Beauty Baby and Shooter)were in their costumes to. The first destination is City Hall. City Hall is were they have some games for the kids to play some games and win toys and have opportunities to sit in fire trucks and much much more. "Mommy mommy can I go in the fire truck please, please, please??" asked Blade(one of the kids). "Yes, later.""Why???""Because don't you see the line!"said Beauty Baby."Ok fine". Blade groaned. Flexie was quiet, she was just looking around at all the new things she never saw before."Anything else you guys wanna do here?" asked their father."No"said the kids at the same time. They walked over to there car and got out of the parking lot and drove to a neighborhood, they knew this neighborhood very well, nothing ever went wrong. But all of a sudden when they came out of there car and to a house, there was a man. Very, very tall. He had a bandanna in his pocket and a knife. Shooter, Beauty Baby, Flexie, and Shooter walked away slowly. The man was walking closer to them and closer, until it happened. "HELP HELP" yelled Flexie as the man tied a bandanna to her mouth, soon she was mumbling. Flexie started crying. The man had just finished tying her hands and legs together. All of a sudden he jumped on Blade within a flash! "NO NO LET GO OF ME". Blade also started mumbling. The parents had kept quiet until the man took Blade. "Hey let go of then NOW" demanded Shooter. The man didn't listen , it seemed as if he was ignoring the parents. The parents kept on yelling and yelling while the kids were crying their heads of and yelling there throats out, yet since the bandanna was on their mouth they couldn't talk. Shooter noticed that the man wasn't paying attention to the kids nor the parents, but the man was actually paying attention just pretending not to like a trick, it was a trick. Shooter slowly walked toward the kids, he was gonna snatch them and take them home, but that didn't happen. With the force and powers of the man when anybody went close to his prisoners he would just put his hand out and within a blink of an eye the people who would try to take them would get smacked into the wall. Shooter and Beauty Baby decided to go home without their kids. They ran to their car very fast and when they got home called 911. 911 didn't answer and it was no hope. The kids were taken into the mans car and drove away to his actual house. The house he was in was just his friends. There at the mans house were all shorts of creepy tools for killing people and just psychical hurting them. The to kids were put in jail cells. While the kids spent a whole night without sleeping, all tied up and couldn't talk, their parents were doing everything they can, but yet it was hopeless. The parents became to cry, while Flexie and Blade were crying to. The next morning Shooter woke up VERY early and drove around town looking for his daughter and son. Beauty Baby was calling all the people she knew, so they can look for Blade and Flexie to, and Shooter was doing the same thing. It was almost as if it was impossible. But this family knew nothing in this world was impossble. As time flew on there was sign of the Blade and Flexie. 5 days later Beauty Baby got a call about Blade and Flexie. "Hello"?said Beauty Baby. "Ya hi... um about your children.. I hate to say but they are now dead.""Noo"!! Beauty Baby became crying. She hung up the phone. Tears flew everywhere. "Beauty Baby this is it we can't keep looking. It will be much there gone."

I wandered down the halls of the old decripid building, my only company the painful groans of the once lively structure that I stood in, I turned a corner and came upon a dusty old, empty dog bowl a name engraved on it's side, my name, 'Fly' I wandered a little futher down the hall andcame upon an old painting of... me. Under the picture was a small plaque bearing the words "a beloved dog, he shall be missed 14/5/1906- 28/8/1915". you see I died 96 years ago, in a horrific incident involving myself, a dead man and a gun...

*will finnish and sort later...*

"Hi there, I'm Airborn and I'm here to tell you about my... exciting halloween" I spoke with a deepish voice. "Now lets begin."

We were let out into the streets to go trick or treating with each other. This was our favorite time of the year because at every house we got a treat, it goes from many diffrent verieties. Well, there we both went, up to a great huge house and barked. The owner came out and smiled "Here you go" she threw to milk-dog bones into the air and we jumped up catching them. We looked at each other as we got our 5th treat, "Let's go Flicka!" I saw this really cool mansion looking house, it has to have alot of treats!" He smiled and turned around, starting to pad down the road to the mansion looking place.

We soon arrived at the house and barked in harmony. We stopped after a while and tilted our head as the door opened by itself. We shook or heads and entered sniffing around, Airborn noticed a HUGE bowl of dog treats and raced over to them; knowicking them off the table and onto the cold, hard, tiled floor. Flicka came rushing over and started lapping them up, Airborn joined her but froze before he could take a peice; his eyes growing round as a huge pumpkin came up behind Flicka. He turned tail and ran up the stairs to a bedroom, he shook in fear as he heard Flicka howl with shock.

Airborn huddled in the bedroom corner as he heard the pumpkin come up the steps one by one, slow and steady. The pumpkin opens up the door with vines and see's Airborn, he starts to creep up to him; Airborn dashes out of the way and slids up the pumpkin racing out of the bedroom and down the hall. He jumps through the window and lands in some bushes, he runs across the street, the pumpkin still following him, and into the pumpkin patch near a spooky back alley. The pumpkin was growing bigger and catching up faster, he didnt know how much longer he could keep this up but... he had to find his mate.

He stopped dead in his tracks and veered around running in circles around the giant to tire it out. He finally veered away and ran back up to the mansion; entering, he barked one... twice... three times for Flicka, no answer. He searched the bottom floor, he stopped, turned his head and pricked his ears as heard claws on the ground; he whipped around, scopped up the rest of the treats and ran up stairs to a window with a dung bell. He grabbed the rope and started from the top and pulled up so the dung bell went down, he stopped at another window as the pumpkin passed by then continued again.

He stopped at the second to last window when the pumpkin opened it up and wrapped his vines around Airborn and pulled him out. He held him up high so that if Airborn tried to bite him it wouldnt work. The pumpkin to his time going back up the stairs to lock him in the attic and gaurd the door, he did what he planned and waited for his time to kill him. Airborn looked around in a panic, seeing an extra dung bell. He opened it with his mouth and jumped back in it, pulling it up so it went back down, he pulled and pulled but stopped right before he hit a window when he heard something, something strange, "Rarrrrhhhhhhh where did that pup go!!" The pumpkin roared.

Airborn stopped when the pumpkin came back in and started to pull the dung bell down again finally when they reached face to face he was smileing and picked Airborn up once more, taking him down to the basement. Before they got to the door he could hear music and smell food, but still not Flicka; which scared him. He was scent down right outside the door when it opened all by itself, he looked around, it was dark... to dark. Then all of a sudden the lights flickered on and his owner jumped out "Surprise Airborn!" She yelled and his other family pits barked with glee. He had an excited look on his face when he spotted Flicka in a pumpkin hat and collar, running over to her, his tail is wagging with glee and his tounge is hanging out of the side of his mouth.

"Surpirse!" She barked "You scared me when I couldnt fine you and that pumpkin freaked me out!" Airborn returned her bark with a small whimper. "Sorry..." She answered and looked at PeachLemon, their owner, "She planned it all." Airborn smiled and looked at all the dog food lined up, he grabbed a peice of pig hind and started to chew on it with Flicka next to him, "Thank you Flicka..." He smiled and had fun with his family the rest of the night. He cant wait till next halloween and see what each one has in store for the other.

I ran around the backyard, kicking up piles of red, orange, and yellow leaves. My owner kept raking them in a big pile, and I go and spread them across the yard again. I guess you could say I'm like a child, because I keep doing things I know I'm not supposed to do. I chased my tail around for a while, and decided to go into the house. Everything looked different from the home I was used to coming home to. Orange things with faces on them scattered around the house. Witches, and candy corn always out. I went to see if my bowl was filled up, and sure enough it was. I ate greedily and satisfied, went to my dog bed in the corner of the kitchen. I napped soundly until my owner came over and woke me up. "Star, girl, we need to put this bed sheet on you." I didn't understand what she meant. I let her put it on, but when I could only see out of two holes, I freaked. "Roof!" I barked. She clipped a leash to me, and told me we were going for a walk. I couldn't go for a walk like this! My crush Dusty would see me.. Oh no, but it was too late we were already out the door.

I saw many houses with decorations of jack-o-lanterns, witches, candy corn, broomsticks, cobwebs. I got a little scared. Afterwords, we walked around in the dark, my owner going from house to house collecting candy. "What is your dog supposed to be?" asked a strange old lady I had never seen before. "Mrs. Peterson, Star is a ghost for Halloween." She looked at me, I wanted to make a run for it, but my owner was no going to let me go. I let out a few yips of protest, and my owner laughed.

'Silly dog." she walked onto the next house and collected some more candy, I got a piece of scrap because one family was very generous. Walking around town, collecting scraps and wolfing them down, what a life! I loved this. My owner returned me to home, and unclipped my leash. She took off the sheet, and let me go, I walked over to my dog bed and curled up. I slept soundly that night, I never wanted this day to end, but of course everyday ends sometimes. I would never forget this special day ever. It was the best!

A Nameless Hunger

Pitter, patter,
Pitter, patter.

Droplets of rain trickled down the window glass, several of them nesting elsewhere atop this year's rose.

A dog without a name watched the dreary October skies from within, wanting and longing, as she was the only one sheltered so deeply within the property's halls that she saw naught a single soul in her young life. Not the whispers of the wind, nor sound of a kin ever reached this far.

All there were, were thick velvet drapes and soft satin pillows, trimmed with lace and gold. Her only, and fondest company was a faded oil portrait of a Papillon. His stoic expression gazed outwards into the distance beyond the windows as if it could see something out there that she could not; and thus she would often stare out in the same manner he would in hopes that maybe such visions would reveal themselves to her.

Tick-tock,
Tick-tock.
The clock did strike again the midnight hour.

The tired and nameless dog now weary with sleep and boredom closed her eyes, readying herself for another painful unchanging day the coming morrow.

She woke with a start, for something unusual had happened! A bark and a howl! The dancing tip-taps of nails rapped against the stony ground outside. Immediately, the nameless dog took to gazing out the very same window... to find another!

A young and lively stud kicked about in the air, snapping playfully at a scarlet butterfly that led him here astray with its tempting, fluttering waltz.

He seemed to pause for a moment as if feeling eyes on the back of his head, and turning back he was indeed quite right. A lonely pair of eyes locked with his, and both turned to the excitement of perhaps meeting a new friend.

Several days this ritual repeated itself, he would visit her, and she would greet him. The satisfaction of company was only a taste, as the desire to be on the other side with the trees and wind grew greater.

An omen came some days later, be it good or bad,
CRASH
SHATTER

Glass spilled onto the floor as a once living crow came tumbling through the window. Now dead and bloodying the walls, his life was but the long awaited key that locked the nameless dog within these manor walls.

She barely spared him a thanks, much less a second glance before bounding out to the world now open. Once out, she would be unable to return for the window was too high to climb but just enough to safely drop for something of her stature. Though she did not mind in the least.

Her companion did meet her, and his eyes made a promise to show her all that he did see in the world. Bouncing ahead of her, he jumped and spun for her to follow in his stead.

The song of the birds, the rumours in the wind, and the feel soft grass beneath her paws--beauty took her heart by storm for several hours passing.

Then...

She fell, a missed step--a misstep.

She slipped off a ledge that left her stranded below in dark and dreary hole. Her companion dared not leave her behind and followed her in, against all things wise.

Minutes became hours, and hours became days. No one came looking, no one came calling. The mocking cries of the crows sung just above them as they perched to see which would go first from life.

Her formerly spirited friend now seemed weak and tired, his body pained from hunger. As was her own. Though they both kept trying, leaping at the crumbling footholds to find their way up, often only to be sent down punished and caked with dirt.

Each time they were so close, and yet farther and farther away as strength continued to drain.

Come now the final day of October, he lay weary on the floor, unable to stand. She looked to him with longing. Though so many days have passed, that such longing now was but for the hunger and not the heart. Her eyes had taken a ravenous light of their own, unseeing and unfeeling save what little meat that covered his ribs still.

His eyes spoke "I'm sorry," first; then as realisation took hold, "I'm afraid" second... and last.

Hunger's a bitch.

Gather round, gather round puppies. Ode! Quit messing with John! and Colors, you and Rose, straighten up, it's story time, pay attention now. This is a story about two of our own kennel mates! That's right John! Bailey and Sapphire, good job! Now listen puppies, as I tell you the story of their first Halloween together.

It was a cold, but sunny day out, and the two pups were excited was ever to enjoy their first halloween! Bailey was a butterfly, and Sapphire was going as a gardener. The two best friends were excited to get all the dog treats in the entire Alacrity, and maybe even more from the more kind people! At about eight o-clock, the two set out, along with some of the other dogs. Pixi, the eldest dog, had told the pups out in pairs, Bailey went with Sapphire.

It was dark, and the pups had a connected collar, brimming with lights so that they could find their way. The first stop they collected a small raw hide bone… Each! And each stop was better than the last, soon they both had their little backpacks filled with little treats! The two were so excited, that they decided to run straight home and show Maggie their findings!! They forgot to pay attention, and ran the wrong way! The two ended up at a tall dark mansion.

"Wow." Bailey whimpered quietly to Sapphire(Doggy talk, of course)

"Think about all the treats we can get in there!" Sapphire yipped back, clearly having a different opinion about the mansion. "Com'n Bailey!" He yipped, and dashed over to the cracked gate to the mansion. Bailey hesitated, but was soon sprinting after him.

Ode! It is very rude to interrupt! Although, you are right, your parents don't seem to be making a smart decision! Alright- back to the story pups.

Sapphire did the honors of jumping up to press the doorbell with his nose. It ringing a deep weird ringing sort of sound, and caused both pups to perk their ears, and tilt their heads with curiosity.

An old lady answered, and stared down at the pups, and blinked, then seemed to remember. "AH! Yes, let me get you something to eat little darlings, stay here!" Bailey and Sapphire yipped and sat down, wagging their tails. Maybe Sapphire was right, maybe they would get some good treats here!

She came back out a moment later, with two huge rawhides! Oh how excited they were! The lady smiled, and whispered to them,-

"Go ahead darlings! Take a few nibbles, I won't tell anyone!" Immediately, they both two two huge bites- but then, they felt weird. Sapphire and Bailey both blacked out, the last thing they saw being the old ladies evil smirk.

Oh! Rose! Calm down sweetie! It'll all be ok. Here- you can all cuddle up to me.

When the two awoke, they were in a big room. It was dark, but there was food in the corner, yucky dry old kibble, but the two decided that it would be helpful. Later that night, the lady returned, with a large broom, a huge ladle, and a HUGE cauldron!!! Bailey and Sapphire studied her as she cut carrots, yams, and other foods into it. Thenshe reached and grabbed Bailey by the scruff. She dropped her into the cauldron!

Why yes, John, it IS quite despicable! This lady was smart, and villainous! Perfect for a halloween story, yes?

Bailey quickly got a paw-hold and jumped out of the boiling stew, and Sapphire snarled viciously. They were just puppies, so the effect as minimal, but when Sapphire bit her ankle, she crashed to the floor, cauldron falling with her. They watched and listened to the weird sizzling noises, and as the terrified screeches of the old lady. When the cauldrons as done overflowing, the lad was gone, and her clothes remained.

The two ran home, thankfully safe and sound, both still had their treats. They told Pixi the story, and Pixi told me. It is wise to trust your instincts young pups.

Starring: Pixi, Bailey, Sapphire, Awesomesauce Colors, John, Chocolate Rose, and Maggie! Ocean Blue is telling the story. ;3 I had an amazing time writing this. :D

I think that this is under the word limit. o.o My mac doesn't have word count... I'll see if i can count them though?

Vain looked up into the bright morning sun. How long had he been there? He looked at his surroundings. He glanced around, looking for anything that might remind him of how he came to be there. It was October, but already snow was on the ground. Vain placed his huge front paws before him and slowly stood up. He decided to walk north, in hopes of reaching a town.

After hours of endless walking, he came across a small building. Rain was beginning to fall, so Vain quickly took shelter inside. He slid through a small hole in the side of the wall, and wandered into a large room.
thud, thud, thud

an unseen figure trudged down the dark stairwell. A shiver went down Vain's spine. He growled warily, ready to protect himself.

***To be continued shortly :P****

Jay lie wide awake in her bed. She rolled over, trying to get into a more comfortable position, but nothing worked. Finally she stood up and trotted over to the window. She glanced up at the bright, full moon staring down at her. It was Halloween night and here she was, stuck inside. She longed to run out doors with her friends.

Sighing, she marched over to the door and pawed at it. Nobody stirred. She pawed again and barked. This time she could here Kharliegh, her fourteen year old owner, groan and roll off the squeaky bed. She opened the door and Jay darted out the door into the living room and through the dog door on the other side. Taking in a deep breath of midnight air she yipped and ran off down the street to join her pals.

Windy and Sparkle were waiting for her when she got down to the old, abandoned mine shack.

"Where have you been dude?" Windy asked.

"Kharliegh had me locked in," Jay said with a groan.

"I see," Windy replied.

"Race you down the tunnel!"Sparkle yipped before taking off into the darkness.

"Cheater!" Jay and Windy yelled in unison. They laughed as they took off after Sparkle. It was going to be a great night.

Bam.

"What the heck," Jay cried as she rubbed her nose, " What do you think your doing!" She barked madly at Sparkle.

"I, I, I'm sorry," she stammered. Sparkle was wide eyed and looking ahead. Jay squinted to try and see what her friend saw, but couldn't make it out. Then she saw it.

It was a pale ghost, streaming towards them. The three pups froze. Not sure what to do, Sparkle turned around and raced out of the tunnel, leaving just Windy and Jay.

"Leave my mine shack," the old ghost warned, "Or you will be sorry."

"Oh yeah," Jay commented, "Well get a loud of this."

"Jay, I don't thi-," Windy started, but Jay was already on her feet.

Racing around the ghost in circles she yipped, trying to confusing it. Then, all of a sudden, she took of down the tunnel. Windy raced after her. She was fast and the ghost was getting closer to him.

"Left!"Jay yelled from up ahead. Windy skidded around a shark corner and followed Jay deeper into the tunnel. They turned around another corner and Jay skidded to a halt, with Windy toppling over her.

"Ow!" Windy barked. Then he saw them. Tons and tons of ghosts all over the place! They both froze and held their breath. The first ghost they had met closed in a small gap, and they were surrounded.

The ghosts were all different. Some pirates, some soldiers, some just looked like scraggly old men with knives, and then there were the mine workers whoe had died when the mine shafts collapsed. Pulling out their weapons they edged closer and closer to the pups. They both whimpered and started to close their eyes when something caught Jay's attention. One of the ghosts was flickering. She tilted her head and watched it as it disapeared out of sight.

She kicked windy and stood up bravely. She walked straight towards the ghosts, and through them.

"Hey, wait for me!" Windy shouted.

Jay just shook her head and yelled, "Very Funny Sparkle!"

Proudly Sparkle and her friend Muenster stepped out from behind a corner, both smiling.

"We had you going," Sparkle smirked.

"You're terrible," Jay said. All four pups laughed.

"I should probably get going," Jay said sadly.

"Yeah, me too," said Muenster.

The four friends all trotted out of the cave and out the the street.

"I'll never forget tonight," Jay said.

"Me neither," Sparkle joked, "The night Miss I'm Not Afraid of Anything was scared by a ghost! Pssh."

Laughing hysterically, the all walked home. It had been the BEST Halloween ever.

The End

Memories lay asleep, she maned her spotted ears as she heard a howl outside. Its probably Amber. She thought, she stood and jumped onto the couch and looked out the window to tell her to stop, but what she saw wasn't Amber. It was a huge hairy dog-like animal standing on the lawn; she looked at the sky and started to panic, it was a full moon. She started running around her room barking like mad. She looked out the window, still there; She stepped out of the dog-door and growled at the canine; it wasn't there, in front of her was Amber and Crystal collapsed on the dewy grass howling with laughter. THE END

Speck laied in her soft bed, it was nearing midnight. All night she has been dreaming of Halloween. She could'nt wait. But htere was something gnawing at the back of her head. BLinking her eyes open, she lifted her head up, and looked over at puddles and comfrey. Getting up she streched and padded over to the dog door. Looking back she sighed then stepped out. It was a chilly night, the wind carried an errie felling into it. Padding over to the hedge and looked out on to the street. It was quiet and cold. Just then an owl screeched in the night, making her jump. Turning her head she spoted the owl in the old tree that stood in the middle of her yard. Padding over she looked up the tree. "Shoo Shoo" she said to the owl. The owl just stood there. Jumping up she placed her front paws at the tree and barked. "Go" "Get." Once again it stud sat there, its big round eyes stared down on her. "The moon is full and bright, It shall bring a fright." hooed the owl. Speck narrowed her eyes. "what do you mean." "The moon is full and bright, it shall bring a fright." the owl hooed again. It spred out its wings and took off, a breeze hitting Specks face. What did the old owl mean? Getting down she padded back inside and laied down by Puddles. She looked out the window and at the moon. It was full and bright. Laying her head down on her paws, she looked around the kitchen first then closed her eyes. Something falling woke her up. Snapping awake, she lift her head. "H-hello?" she studderd. A werid figure stepped out of the shadows. "Happy halloween!!!" it rasped then turned into fog and dissapered. She stared stunded.

There has long since been a legend of a great hound that prowled the land at night so fierce and terrible to behold that no one dared to walk the streets. His name was Baskerville the Beast. His coat shimered and glowed in the moonlight making him look all the more frightening.

That is until one night something unexpected happened. A girl named Lianna crossed paths with Baskerville the Beast. When he saw the girl, he growled and nashed his teeth at her expecting her to run away in terror. But she didn't. This made him turn his head to one side and venture closer. Still the Lianna did not flinch and even held out her hand to the great beast. He cautiously came up to her. And from that moment on he became her loyalest defender and friend. Even though Baskerville wasn't a tame dog, you would see him sleeping in front of her house. On the day that Lianna died of old age, Baskerville climbed to the highest peak and howl at the moon. There he sits for all time, if you listen closely you can still hear him.

Black Forest sighed with glee and giddiness. Her stomach was bubbly with excitement. It was Halloween. She had to get into her costume then go to the Halloween party with her friends in her house. Cheerfully, she went to her closet. What to wear… she decided to be a park ranger. The she-dog found the items she needed. An A.L.A.C. vest, a backpack, and trek booties. Her left forepaw touched the vest and she paused, holding a moment of silence for her father, the one this vest had originally belonged to. An oily tear slid down her cheek as she forced back more.

Pushing the thoughts away, she slipped into it. Next, she fastened the backpack on. Last, she slipped into her favorite pair of trek booties, the yellow ones with the mud on them. She brushed her fur, clipped her nails, and smiled in the mirror. She looked perfect. Smoothly, the dog trotted downstairs to the ballroom.

“Hey! Blackie!” Black Forest heard a call. It was her friend, Melina. Melina trotted over through the throngs of dancing dogs. She looked cool. She was garbed in silver earrings, a silver studded harness, reindeer antlers, and she had tied an armadillo plush to her harness. Her fur was dyed to look like that of a wolf.

“Oh, hi, Melina!” Black Forest exclaimed happily. “Oh. My. Gosh. Look. It’s Cedar.” Cedar was the male dog that Black Forest had a crush on.

Melina giggled. “You loooove him.” She pushed her friend playfully with one paw. Then, the male began to walk toward them.

“Oh my gosh, he’s coming over here!” Black Forest exclaimed. “Act natural.”

“Hi, girls. Cool party, huh?” Cedar asked. He was dressed simply, in an icicle necklace and a green Santa cape. His fur was also dyed with red fox dye.

“Yeah, so cool.” A voice drawled. It was Lael. “Can you guess what I am?”

“Um, a dog with red panda dye, a chain leash collar, and angel wings?” Cedar snickered. Black Forest laughed.

“No, I’m a fallen angel.” Lael snarled angrily. “You should know that.”

Melina jumped at the bitterness in Lael’s voice. “Hey, relax. Wanna dance with us?”

“Dance? With you? I’d rather jump in a lake.” Lael laughed rudely. “I think I’ll go dance with someone more of my social class.” And with that, she walked away.

“Let’s dance!” Melina squealed, pulling her friends to the dance floor. The floor was lighting up with white, aqua, and fuschia squares that dazzled the eye. Purple, red, and yellow strobe lights flashed. The place was decorated with black and orange streamers, carved pumpkins, black tablecloths on the tables, and bats and spiders hanging from the ceiling with black and orange balloons here and there. The trio danced wildly, shaking booties, belly-slapping, and head-banging. They were all panting when they decided to quit for a while. Black Forest had noticed Cedar was looking at her a lot during the party. Black Forest explained her reason to Melina, then pulled Cedar gently outside to the balcony.

“Cedar. I noticed you were looking at me a lot during the dance. Is anything wrong?” She murmured.

Cedar smiled. “Well, it’s just that – well, I think I like you.”

Black Forest grinned. “I like you, too. Would you like to, um, date?”

Cedar smiled wider. “Yes, I would.”

“Ooh, yay! I’ll be right back. I’m going to get drinks for us.” Black Forest said, trotting back inside to the punch bowl. She pulled a test tube from her booty after pouring two cups of punch. She dumped the contents into a cup, smiling. The dog disposed of the test tube and took the drinks back to the balcony.

“Here.” She said, handing Cedar a cup. He sipped it.

“It’s delicious!” He exclaimed.

“Mmm…” Black Forest said, drinking her own punch.

Suddenly, there was a loud snarl, ripping through the music and sounds of happy dogs. Everyone turned. Their friend, Cedar, was having terrible convulsions. He was on the floor, shattered glass next to him, convulsing terribly. A paw was at his throat as he began to scream. Black Forest frowned with difficulty and pulled him outside the building, attracting stares as she went through the crowd.

She leaned down and whispered in the dying male’s ear, “You hurt me. You hurt me badly. Now I’ve hurt you. What goes around, comes around, my dear Cedar.”

Cedar’s eyes began to go dark with a glazed look. Suddenly, his body’s fits subsided. His chest began to move slower, then not at all.

Suddenly, Black Forest had realized what she had done. At first, she felt shock. Then, she felt nothing. Just numbness.

She walked inside. It was silent. The streamers hanging from the ceiling were tattered. The furniture was old and dusty. The floor was grey and worn. The balloons were lying lifelessly on the floor. All of the flowers were wilted and dead. Black Forest looked at herself. Her boots were worn through the soles, her paw pads covered with dried blood. Her blood. Her A.L.A.C. Vest was ripped and filthy. She slid her backpack off and opened it. Inside the bag she found a note, a clean knife, and a bottle of pills. She read the note.

Oh my sweet, sweet, Black Swan. How I miss you. How I long to inhale the scent of your fur. Alas, I cannot. I lay here, dying, growing weaker with each passing day. Don’t worry; I’ll see you in Heaven.

-Love, Oakleaf

Black Forest read the note taped onto the bottle.

Madi, don’t let Black Forest ever leave the asylum. She will never be the same. Not after her lover died. She went insane. Give her one of these pills daily. They keep her happy in her fantasies.

Black Forest pawed the knife. She saw her reflection in its blade. Her usually lapis lazuli eyes were dry and brittle. Her fur was matted and snarled. She went to the punch bowl, feeling parched. There was only a cup next to it, filled to the brim. She drank the liquid then curled up next to the table and slept.

She never awoke.

The next day, police dogs searched the old, abandoned house that once belonged to Black Forest. They found her, dead, next to the punch bowl left from a Halloween party that took place 6 years before. There was an empty test tube on the table with a trace of powder left. Later research showed it was cyanide in powder form. They only found the paw prints of Black Forest’s deceased fiancée on the tube. He had died 7 years before, 1 year before the party. It remains a mystery how he got the tube to the party. It remains a mystery how Black Forest escaped the asylum. It remains a mystery how she knew it was Halloween, and why she was dressed in the same outfit she wore to the party 6 years before.

(Word count - 1160)

Swagga Jagga was sleeping when a soft wind blew on her soft fur and made a ghost like whistling sound. She whipped her head up with a startle but then sighed in relief. She stepped outside. Swagga Jagga walked out of her slot and went to see if Monster wanted to go out on a walk with her. "Hello Monster. Would you like to go on a walk?" She asked. Monster squirmed and kicked up onto her feet. "Sorry. I got stuck again. Spatula put me in the hole again. And sure." Monster replied and came out of her slot.

Swagga Jagga and Monster padded off into the forest. Swagga Jagga jumped back with a startle as the leaves in front of them crashed but then kept walking when she saw it was just a black rabbit. They got to what appeared to be an abandoned barn with some owls in it. A sooty faced owl dive-bombed Swagga Jagga and she rolled away just in time. "Woah. That was close." She barked.

They walked forwards. "Are you sure?" Asked Monster. Swagga Jagga nodded. "Let's go" She replied.

They went into the barn. Monster was shaking. They looked in the stalls where horses once were. They saw a robotic pony. Monster called it a Steampunk Pony but Swagga Jagga just laughed. They kept on walking. They heard a creak coming from the farthest stall to the right. They walked forwards slowly and carefully. When they approached it a dog started snarling and ran after them snarling. They bolted away, the dog still following them. Swagga Jagga looked back, frightened. Her fur was standing on end. "Get away!" She snarled back. They hid behind a bush. They couldn't her the dog anymore and thought he was gone, until a large pair of jaws burst through. Monster and Swagga Jagga scrambled away and lost sight of eachother. Swagga Jagga got very frightened that she was no longer with Monster. She sniffed the air. She thought. She tried to climb a tree but fell right on top of the German Shepherd. She got startled and scrabbled backwards. Without knowing it she ran right into Monster and started fighting with her and bit her on the leg before noticing it was Monster. She blushed. She charged forwards towards the barn unknowingly when she tripped on something. She looked back and there was a black and white pitbull. "Max. . ." She said quietly. The dog was walking towards them with an evil grin. He was nearly pure black. He then started to charge them. Swagga Jagga and Monster jumped away just in time and he crashed into a tree. Swagga Jagga ran and got a vine and some ferns and got Spatula and a Tundraw Wolf. She tossed part of the vine to Monster, through another end to Spatula and the other end of that vine to the Tundra Wolf. "Now!" She barked and they ran around the tree with the vines in nearly perfect formation and tied up the dog. They smiled and all licked each other. But then they heard laughing. They looked up and a bunch of pure black German Shepherds with red eyes were standing all around them with smirks on their faces. They started to get closer and closer until all Swagga Jagga, Monster, Spatula and the Tundra Wolf saw was black. . .

The end!
