We hope to contact and announce new staff within the next 5 days, however in the meantime, we have had some requests to answer the questions regarding the site on the application.
Now of course we didn't expect everyone to get these right, and many more covered above and beyond what we considered the basic answers to these questions.
Newbie Helper Application Answers:
#3: Differences between white and tan and secondary markings, including opacities.
White and Tan are non secondary markings that overlay secondaries up to secondary #5, underlay secondaries between #6 and #10, and they cannot be adjusted for opacity. Secondary markings are various markings on a dog that can be adjusted for opacity. Although there are many options, you can only have up to 10 on a dog. Opacity is the strength of a marking, a low opacity like 20% only shows up slightly, where 100% shows it at it's full strength. You can have markings over 100% or under 0% and these are considered glitch markings, because they are outside the normal percentage range and often end up showing the marking in unnatural colors like pink, purple, blue or green. Opacities over 128% and under -128% will not pass to future offspring.
#4: What makes Newbies important to Alacrity and why are NHs just as important to older players.
The site survives due to players, and new players ensure that survival. Each new player is a future long term player, donator, and site advocate. By welcoming and helping our new players, we help to keep this future alive. Newbie Helpers are just as important to older players for several reasons, although the largest reason would be that we're currently evolving as a site, and so the Helpers have the most up to date and accurate information. They also help older players who have returned from a break acclimate to the new site, and answer questions about the more intricate parts of Ala that not even older players know sometimes.
#5: If a newbie was spamming chat and a moderator was not around.
A first attempt should be made to locate an online mod or admin via AIM, if they are not in Alacrity Chat. If no mods or admins are online or are not responding, the NH should screenshot the spamming and report it to the issue hub. If the spamming was of something upsetting in nature or something that would break General Rule #1 or #3, the NH should attempt to defuse the situation without mini modding and keep the peace in chat while continuing to screenshot and attempt to find a mod/admin.
#6: If you did not know the answer to a question in chat and no other helpers were online.
Again, firstly check AIM for other Helpers/Mods/Admins and ask them if they know the answer to the question. Then be honest that you do not know, but you are figuring out the answer right now. You can check the FAQs or Alacrity Wiki to see if it has the answer. If nobody on staff is about, ask the player to submit to the issue hub because you do not wish to give them the wrong answer and you will make sure they have an answer ASAP. Then go bother the first staff player you see online, so you can both learn the answer and make sure the player gets their answer!
Mod Application:
#9: "I have a beautiful Custom GSD for Sale, you can see here
Here! She's 13 bones, message me, ZJ!" What is wrong with this post if I put it in Main Chat? In a scribble? Where are the correct places to put this post?
It is wrong to put this anywhere on Alacrity, as if you click the linked "Here", it takes you to a non-custom GSD that is an immortal 2nd gen. It violates General Rule 6: False Advertising for this reason, so there is no correct place to put this post. However, if it was in Main Chat, it would also be a Chat Rule 7: Sales in Sales Chat Only and if it was in a scribble it would violate General Rule 13: Advertising only in Sales Chat, Sales Forum, Personal Status, or Shout Box. To be fair to all mod applicants, not one single person noticed the General Rule 6 part! I'm a tricky, tricky admin and was told this was a mean trick!
Yours,
i solved it for the first time! XD
