Milestones: A Journey Through Alacrity's Code

When I began refactoring Alacrity three years ago, I never imagined the sheer scale of the task ahead. What started as a casual “I’ll clean it up in a few months” quickly tu ed into a marathon of “Make it stop!” The initial 500,000 lines of code have since ballooned to nearly 1 million lines—a number that rivals enterprise software projects built by entire teams of engineers.

If you’ve ever wondered why typos or minor artifacts occasionally pop up, now you know the reason: this is no small undertaking.

Today, I’m proud to say that I have substantively reviewed, refactored, and “touched” every single line of Alacrity's codebase.

Final Updates to The Beauty Shows

Currently, the last portions of The Beauty Shows are being polished. An interesting tidbit: my test game is the 21,644th Beauty Show on Alacrity. It’s remarkable how popular this feature once was, and I hope my improvements will make it a favorite again.

The Next Steps: What's Coming?

While the first-pass refactor is complete, several areas will undergo a final remaster before we shift focus to creating new content:

  • Inventory System: Integration with Dogs for a seamless experience, and support for multiple selections in user shops and related features.
  • Website Framing: Modernizing key UI elements like the welcome back screen, chat, top banner, and more.
  • Games: While the games section has seen significant improvements, some final touches remain.

Additionally, other unfinished sections will be gradually polished as we move forward with new features.

A Big Thank You!

Refactoring Alacrity has been an incredible journey, and I’m excited to bring the site to new heights. Your patience and support have made this possible. Here's to a revitalized Alacrity and exciting updates ahead! 🚀
