Voting Suggestion
Started By
I've discussed this with friends in the past... and the more I think about it and discuss it the more it seems like a good idea.
I believe players who have been on ala longer deserve more say in what happens with the site. They have been sticking around on the site the longest and it is honestly more fair for them to have a bit more of an impact on what happens on the site.
So, because of this, I am suggesting the idea that someone must have a certain number of days on the site before they -can- vote. Like, 15 days logged on or some such so people who sign up, vote randomly, and never show back up aren't the ones making decisions. After all, can they really make a decision for the site when they haven't even played it really?
Often times what I hear people like in chat, and what the poll results come out to, are not the same.
Please give feedback on this or other possible ideas or support. Thank you!
[Please note this applies to ALL polls and I am not saying anything against the current poll. I have had these thoughts for quite a while]

Well, my original plan was for the older the account, the more votes you get, but with account trading and such that could get a bit tricky ^^ And 60 days seems like a long time to open an account feature like that, to me. I'd say a max of 30 days.

I'd suggest more like 60 days, so they can have time to see how everything works.

I would also like to see the long time players and especially the ones who support the site with RL money to have more say. Ala wouldn't be here anymore without us.

Support support support support
This will also cut back on people violating gen 9 just to vote (in big polls like breeds mostly)

I support.

To be faily honest, I feel like my opinion has very little value compared to what it would have been (almost) 3 years ago when this site was small.

The number of new users coming in is a LOT, and therefore, it's quite possible that if all the new members vote for a SINGLE option, it will win, no matter what the other users though.

There was actually a poll awhile ago, I believ eit was about trials, and I noticed a LOT of newer users were commmenting on it, but it should be the older users who should be because of our experience.

Granted, a lot of the older users have left (I say the 5000's is about where I cap for the "old users") or have become inactive, and it's a bit harder, but do you think we could even increase the option to let's say, a month?

EDIT: ALSO, it would be nice to include some sort of "debate" section for each poll that will involve a change to the site. For example, I wasn't too happy to know we were getting a new mascot, especially since we barly use our old ones. But without someone making a thread and commenting on it and bringing it up, who is going to know?

I don't think that's a good comparison. You can't really "join" a country, vote, and then go to another country... if you want to make that comparison.

That's what happens on alacrity. A lot of people join, vote, and then leave and never come back. They didn't put research in and they aren't staying to even take advantage of the result they voted for. This isn't fair to players who are actually invested in the site and care about the results because they will impact them.

Aust, the 18yr old had years also to stay current with issues and learn about whats going on. I feel this is not an accurate comparison.

Anyways, I went to class and thought about this and I actually really like the idea of players having to have played at least 10-15 days before voting. It makes sense to me. Players who just joined aren't going to know much about the site to vote on game changing ideas like the one we had about trials.

Polls usually are up for a long amount of time too so its sufficient enough for players to join, learn about the site and some of the arguments, and then be able to vote before the poll closes once they hit the required days.

I'm not so sure about that. In real life, someone who just turned 18 has the same amount say than a 70 year old in voting, even though the 70 year old has been voting longer.
