Item that changes tail/ear varieties
Started By
Not sure if this was suggested, I skimmed through quite a few pages and saw nothing, so, I'll post it and can delete if there is such a thing that I happened to miss xP
Anyway!
So, you're breeding dogs and you hit the end of your line and you don't have the right look you were wanting -- you wanted straight eared paps or curl tailed huskies but somewhere in their lineage those traits got washed out.
An item that changes the tail/ear varieties on dogs could cure this! It would be kind of like the cupcake item, allowing you to change the varieties you want so you can get the dog the exact way you want it to be!
I think this would make a great cash boutique item -- not really necessary for the game, but great for breeders who didn't get exactly what they want. It would go along great with the cupcakes :)

Support.

I feel like if a play has enough money to spend on superficial things, like looks, then they should. That helps the economy. Why? Because the looks are not really gonna be earning you cash, especially something like curled vs straight or flop vs stiff. It's to cater to the owner's taste. If they want to waste money on things that have no monetary return, I say let them!

I was personally kinda sad that the curled tails were bred out of my line. It came to the decision of nice coat markings but straight tail, or garbled ugly mud and curled tail. I can't really make a dog at the end of the line to match my real life dog, which was one of my goals :L

And really, I feel like cupcakes are way more drastic than changing the tail or ears. Those are minor aesthetics, the markings are the loud part that everyone notices first. So I don't see how this is any more of a "short cut" Because really the cupcakes are a major shortcut in getting the huge variety of markings from a custom based line without spending the bones on them.

I support.

It gives no benefit whatsoever to the person doing it and many times I see complaints of people that accidentally clicked the button. I believe that it should be able to be changed much like the cupcakes and neutering/spaying. No harm no foul with this.

If a breeder wants to keep doing careful planning and not use the item, it's perfectly fine. I, however, see no harm. =)

I don't think cupcakes are a short cut, I'm just saying if you believe that this sort of thing would be, then you might as well consider cupcakes one as well :3

Markings may not pass directly, but there is a huge difference between buying customs and spending tons of bones and doing a foundie line. Im currently working with a half foundie line and the foundie side isn't nearly as pretty xD

But, this is a matter of opinion and I suppose if people find this to be a shortcut, then, they will say so :3 I just find it kind of silly that someone would be upset over someone changing such a thing, especially if there was a high price on that thing. All it is is a matter of looks, it's not as though it's going to give them some advantage of some sort. ^^

I apologise for my disagreement, Miss Crevan. ^^;

Though it is strictly an opinion.

Markings aren't guaranteed in my eyes. There are high chances they will not be distributed to offspring whatsoever.

If you have two firm eared Papillon parents you are guaranteed 100% to have a litter of firm eared puppies. Likewise to flop eared.

If you have a firm and a flop you have 50% with each pup.

My feelings are that markings cannot be absolutely controlled for the next generation, but tails/ears are in full control of the breeder. There is little to nothing lost to chance.

I would not personally agree with the fallacy that if there is already an item that creates a shortcut, there then should be added another as a justified reason.

My line of huskies was carefully bred to, all the way to 9k with clean lines... it's kind of a bummer i can't get any curl tailed dogs without inbreeding.

I don't see why changing markings shouldnt involve careful breeding, but ear/tail varieties should...seems like they work together. We already have a marking changer *shrugs* Even more so I think ear/tail should be -less- of a shortcut than markings, since, you can do a line of foundies and get a boring coat color and make it pretty, avoiding the use of customs that people put a lot of money into.

My own opinion is it removes a great deal of hard work and careful selection in the breeding process. ^^;

It is a bit too much of a shortcut, being that if you bred the right pair it is a guarantee for the right ear or tail.

I do think starting from scratch is the right thing to do for the ear/tail gene, or looking for a compatible mate to gain one.

I can not really bring myself the support after seeing so many people conduct careful planning in their lines to seemingly be undermined by a convenience item.

My apologies. ^^;

Ooh, I support. Especially it being in the Cash Boutique, it'll definitely wash out some money in the game!
