Unretiring!
Started By
I think that since there is a rebirth we should also have an object that can unretire a dog! All you have to do is buy the item and go to the page of the retired dog and there should be a button above/below the dog image that says "Adopt this dog back!" Or something like that. Like a rebirth, it has the same age as when you retired it and such. like a rebirth but for a retired dog.
Sorry if this is already in place or suggested!

The feature to euthanize dogs has long been out of practise, Miss Nafia.

It was replaced by the "retire" feature for several reasons (primarily cycling dog numbers out of the system), and I imagine this could be considered amongst one of them. ^^;

I am not certain what you are trying to communicate through your response, being the situation you described has been revised for quite a while and does not exist. Thus the finality currently exists.

Otherwise the absurdity of the concept of being able to give and take dogs from within in and out of people's homes and removing them as pets is a bit off. ^^;

Wealthier players are able to purchase a multitude of dogs over 2 months of age and then retire them into "stock" without consuming dog slots, and later bring them back.

Meaning I would be able to keep a stock of capped dogs over 2 months of age and simultaneously free dog slots whilst keeping them "timestopped."

Even if there were a mention of keeping the prices incredibly high, it is the nature of the situation I explained earlier that makes it seem rather awkward.

Currently we ask that everyone checks their work. We cannot correct inbreeding in dogs accidentally conducted, sales at unintended prices, items accidentally sold with dogs, or other incidents that involve it being the user's responsibility to be aware of the situation--unless under special circumstances.

There is a difference between accidentally retiring a dog and deliberately doing so only to decide you would like to have it back three months along the line.

Though these are strictly my opinions and my explanation of why.

I respect everyone to each their own. :) I merely cannot offer my own support on the subject, and I apologise for that, but I wish you all the best nonetheless on the matter.

@Jack, if I am correct, wasn't the rebirth able to be used on dogs you put down? If I am indeed correct on that fact, then putting down dogs is like retiring. It is, as you say, defeats the finality of decision making.

Putting down a dog is an action you made, and I believe you could've used a rebirth on that dog.

"Blue demands that Red un-retires it and sends it back, leading to harassment."

Red then reports Blue for harassment and mods solve the issue. Really its no different than now, where users are harassed over breeding unmaxed dogs, selling it, retiring them, or any other control people think they have over a dog they no longer own.

Really I do not see a reason not to have it, after all we can raise a dog back from the dead and there have been several instances where someone accidentally clicked retire. Also I don't imagine it would be cheap, likely around the same price as the rebirth, so it's not like it would be something you would do lightly, as it would be a waste of money to do it "just because".

I myself would love this as I've fudged lines before by retiring a maxed dog I hadn't bred yet :C

I just see this scenario in my head.

Blue breeds dogs, Blue sells their dogs off and Red buys one
Red retires the dog. Blue is one of those people who gets super mad about people retiring their dogs.
Blue demands that Red un-retires it and sends it back, leading to harassment.

Bunny, only the owner who retires the dog can unretire them.

/Raises single eyebrow.

Who could do this?

Do not support both ways.

Any one could do it: Some people breed for specific markings, eye color, etc. If someone could just randomly get a dog back from the retirement, it may ruin their whole reputation, OR worse; the owner could breed it and their whole perfect work of [example:] bi-eyed lineage would be ruined.

The retire-r could only do it: People need to face their consequences in life and simply a dog agility sim. Retire a dog then want to unretire it, too bad; you made the choice and should have thought it out more. Besides, we have a pound. Either retire it forever or sell it to the pound.

Clayton, I was saying it would work like a rebirth but instead of it being a dead dog it would be one you would retire

Rebirths do not work on retired dogs.

Making an item to bring back retire dogs would defeat the finality of decision making as a breeder.

It wouldn't really be ethical from a standpoint for a breeder to sell a pet to another home then request them back whenever they please. ^^;

It would also potentially defeat the importance of dog slots since you can retire an older dog to free space then bring it back instead of purchasing another slot (which Alacrity relies on).

I think it's good to have some consequence to the actions you take and having to make some hard decisions in a sim, but that is my own opinion.
