Pie Crew Adventures (Private)
Started By
Soo... since we're all Pie Crewers here I won't bother to lay out too many rules. Just these: one, do what you want as long as it makes sense, and two, feel free to use more than one of your dogs so long as your whole kennel isn't running around in here... that is, you can mention the rest of your dogs or have your own dogs interacting with each other but don't expect me to keep up with all of them as characters. ;)
Anyway, without further ado... let the adventures begin!

Frappe stood still, her eyes burning and her nose feeling like it was about to fall off. "eh, Cobald, I cand breef. It sdinks!" Frappe lifted her paw up and covered her eyes an attempted to cover her nose at the same time, resulting in the aussie to topple over. "Cobald! I cand smell or see! Where are you?!"

"Is there anything more annoying than a waffler?" Sha snorted.<br /><br />"Hush, Sha," Dinah chided.<br /><br />"Well, there's not!"

Sheena paced a little. "Umm, nothing to worry about now, Dinah." Why did she just lie to Dinah. It hurt her to lie to someone that she trusts, but she just can't tell her yet. It's a lot of bad memories and scary thoughts that come with it. <br><br /><br />"You can sleep. I'll just go look for a creek too. It'll do me good to have a little alone time." She wanders off in the opposite direction as the others to get away. She sits for a little and ponders things.

"Wazzat, Sheena?" Dinah murmured. The other border collie was obviously jumpy and it was making it hard for Dinah to sleep.<br /><br />That and the horrible stench coming from the woods, but Dinah ignored that-- she'd been skunked before. You got used to the smell.

As Dinah took Hecubus under her watch. Sheena relaxed a little. She had been tense the whole walk. When would Lebur finally come looking for her? What would happen if he knew that she was with them. She shuttered at the thought but then she heard a noise and her heart skipped a few beats. She mumbled, "Please don't let that be him." At that time a skunk popped out of the bushes and she watched as Frappe got hit. <br /><br>
"Dinah I need to tell you something," she said softly but Dinah was out and so was Hecubus. "Well I guess it'll have to wait...its important and you're the only one I trust right now."

"WHOAWHOA!" Cobalt whipped around to avoid the skunk, in the process running into a tree hard enough to almost knock him out. "What's your problem, buddy? I never... even... touched you..." he wobbled, nearly tripped over the skunk and ducked behind Frappe, the skunk butt swiveling to follow him the whole way. Frappe yelped and tried to scramble out of the way, but it was too late. There was a burst of nose-searing stench and then Cobalt blacked out.

Frappe finally snapped back to reality, it seemed like the whole day had gone by in a blur. It seemed that if they didn't make much progress today, they would be in a lot more trouble tomorrow. She sighed and then began to walk a little bit faster after Cobalt. She didn't feel like she needed to run, if she ran out of too much energy now, there wouldn't be much left for later. <br /><br />It was then that she heard a twig snap to her right. Insticts immediately kicking in, her ears and fur raised. She stood still for a whole minute before taking a cautious step away from the sound. Now wasn't the time to be curious, there could be a bear out there for all she knew.<br /><br />Frappe took a few more steps before trotting over to Cobalt. "Hey, hey!" she called to him, but not before she saw something white and black pop out of the bush and right behind the male aussie. Cobalt turned right before Frappe barked and the skunk raised its rear in his face.

Dinah grinned at the tired puppy. Her own Rolo was still tripping along happily-- she remembered sleepless nights because of that pup's constant moving-- but Hecubus was obviously tired. "Come here, puppy," she said. "Nap while we can."

Hecubus sat gratefully with a small groan. His pads hurt. He began licking first one paw, then the other as he snuck glances at the group. He had tried to sit and rest once, but the one they call "Dusk" had just nuzzled him along. He really wanted to go see the golden squirrel with Kineta, but that girl was fast! And his feet hurt.

"Oho, is that a challenge?" Cobalt growled. He turned to Frappe, who was closest, and grinned. "Race you to wherever that nutty pup is going!" Without looking to see if she followed, he took off after the surprisingly speedy Shepherd pup.<br /><br />Sha laughed and tried not to wince when he did so. Dinah licked his ear consolingly and turned to Kendra. "I don't remember the drive being this long. Do you think we'll be there soon? I want to see my baby and Chi." She could tell her heartsickness was showing in her voice but she couldn't temper it.<br /><br />"Chi's taking care of him, Dinah," Sha wheezed. "She's too tough to die even if the kennels didn't stand... and she'll take care of your pup till you get back." He hoped it was true. Chi was his best friend and if anything happened to her OR Dinah's pup....

Kendra sat down next to Dinah and growled softly at Dusk. "We're taking a break, snap out of your little world please and let us all rest." Kendra then looked around forest. "We need to take a water break, anyone hear any creeks?" <br><br> Kineta who was still rather full of energy first turned to talk to Cobalt and Frappe. "I don't need to hear the rest of the story, I'm sure he's out there! I just haven't seen or smelled him yet..." She then realized what Kendra had said. "I'll go look for a creek and maybe I'll find the golden squirrel too!" She flicked her tail at Cobalt in a way saying come on I dare you to come with me. Kineta then troted off the path and into the woods listening, smelling, and jumping up on fallen down trees to get a better view of the world through her goggles.

Dusk padded along with the group, not having trouble with the pace. He trotted at the back, encouraging weary pups to keep going. One of the little ones sat down, tired of the unending journey, and Dusk nudged gently till the pup reluctantly got up and trotted with the others once more. Dusk lifted his head and took in a deep breath of the fresh forest air. Something on the wind smelled familiar, and the promise of warmth and home grew stronger with every stride.

Sheena laughs. "It looks like I'm doing a little better than you. These two troublemakers are doing just fine, too. I'll let you know if we aren't ok."

Dinah flopped on her side at the edge of the road, panting. She understood why Kendra was pushing them so hard, but to be honest she wasn't in the shape she used to be. The aussies were all keeping up easily and Kendra was trying to set a pace that Sha and the puppies could handle, but it had still been a long day and they hadn't stopped for anything but water.<br /><br />"No luck with that golden squirrel?" she asked to cover Sha's whimper when he gingerly lowered himself to lie next to her. The pap's ribs were hurting him badly, she could tell, but no one had said anything and Sha had complained only minimally.<br /><br />"Haven't seen hide or hair of one," Cobalt sighed mournfully. He nudged Frappe. "What do you say, Frappe? See any odd squirrels?"<br /><br />"Squirrels," Sha snorted. His temper had gotten shorter as the day dragged on, and he was starting to snap at odd things. He shut his eyes wearily and turned to Sheena, who had been shepherding Hecubus and Rolo all this time. "How are you doing with those pups?"

Frappe sat back and admired as the rest of the dogs seemed to perk up, a noticable difference from their panic the night before. She sighed, half with content, and half with worry. Now they just needed to find a way home-to EVERYONES home. It wasn;t going to be easy, she already knew. She figured she should brace herself mentally for the road that they were going to have to walk. and there were no ruby slippers that would teleport them away from the dangers either.

Sheena sat up and smiled. "I'm glad we're going. If I know what Hecubus is thinking, its. I want to be home and now!" She laugh and playfully nudges Hecubus. "I'm glad to see you got your energy back. "

"Yes, we're going," Dinah answered for Sheena. She picked up a rabbit bone for Rolo to chew on later and trotted after Kendra and Kineta. Sha followed at a slower pace, limping but trying not to show it.<br /><br />Cobalt caught up with the rambunctious German shepherd pup easily and grinned at her. "You never heard the rest of my story. About meeting the golden squirrel, remember?"

Hecubus stared down at the flopping, cold wet thing that Sheena had pushed between his paws. It didn't look like his chow.."Miz Sheena? I think you forgot to take it out of the can thingy.." Sheena gave him a look, and then proceded to eat her fish. Heccy was slightly unsure, but his stomach sure wasn't. He didn't even chew, just grabbed the fish in his jaws and swallowed. It looked to him as if the makeshift pack was getting ready to travel, and he was all for that! He missed his warm doggie bed and his kennel mates. But he was loving hanging out with all of these strange and wonderful dogs. He went over and sat right in front of Sheena. "Are we going?"

Kineta quickly finsihed the fish she was eating and ran off towards where Sha had pointed. She did a quick turn around and looked back at everyone. "Lets go I bet the golden squirrel is this way!!" Then then did a few tight little circles before running off towards the road. She spotted something in the sun.... what was that? Shiny? In the tree..! She tilted her head at stared at it. <br><br> Kendra got up from eating her fish she felt soar and tired. "We'd best get going before she takes down the forest." Kendra walked slowly after Kineta she just was not feeling well.. she missed the comforts of home.
