Blade trudged though the deep snow. His toes had almost gone numb in the cold, and the night air was closing around him. He stopped briefly to survey his surroundings in the hopes of getting his bearings, but the blizzard like conditions were still too bad to see far though the falling snow, and the wind whipped around him too unpredictably to follow any kind of sent trail. He sighed and continued on. He was sure he had seen mountains in this direction, and maybe there he would find shelter. A cave, or perhaps simply some trees, anything but the open terrain he was currently in. He shivered, shifting part of the blanket of snow that had turned his yellow coat white. What was he doing in a place like this? He belonged to a place far away from here, a much warmer place, a place that seemed like a world away now. He had no right to be in a place like this, with so much snow, and certainly without his winter coat. He simply wasn’t designed for these conditions! He let the anger simmer gently in the back of his mind, his only source of warmth in this place. It didn’t matter now anyway, the events leading up to this, his quest, his friends… nothing. The only thing that mattered was finding somewhere warm enough that he didn’t die in this frozen hell. A dark shape loomed out of the white out and Blade’s spirits lifted slightly, was this the face of the side of the mountain? If so shelter might not be far off… ((Rules/guidelines: Maximum of three characters, per player, at a time. Minimum reply length of 3 lines. Fantasy and magical characters encouraged. The first few beats were poorly aimed and for a moment Blade thought that he could continue running, but as the dragon positioned himself better in the sky the full force of the air caused him to slip and loose ground. His paws scrabbled desperately at the ground, trying to find purchase on the rock under all the ice and snow. The down draft of the wings also brought up snow so that he couldn’t easily see, so he concentrated on what he could feel. But every time Blade managed to grip onto the stone strong enough to hold his ground, the second he shifted a paw to forward, he lost it again. Two thirds across the arena he finally got a hold strong enough for him to stay in place. This time however Blade didn’t try to move back up towards the dragon but hunkered down low to the ground so that he caused as little wind resistance as possible. He quickly realised that he couldn’t attack Killer under this condition, and he wondered how long Killer could keep the attack up. Blade didn’t think it could be for long, but even if he could, he would probably still have to move in order to finish the assault. Either way, that would mean a drop in the wind speed eventually, and Blade planned to take full advantage of that when it happened. It was the dragon’s turn now, the dog could do nothing but wait.

It was a swing and a miss, Blade must of expected it. This is where having a long neck comes in handy. He was able to watch Blade, moving agilely along.
So he tried something new, to himself anyway. He jumped up and twisted so that he was positioned directly towards Blade and beat down hard with his wings. Trying to blow him off balance.

(lol well that’s good at least, especially since it takes hours to look up all the Scottish spellings. But yes, the Scots can roll there ‘r’s into forever. XD)

Blade had been expecting Killer to dodge and agilely sidestepped the tail swing by spinning around on the spot when the dragon moved, then leaping over the tail as it came around. He glided over the top with barely a hair width between him and the reptile, and landed on the other side of it. Without missing a step, he turned again and raced around to Killers other side, arching widely from the dragon’s body, but still keeping at that sudden speed. All the while, his eyes stayed firmly fixed on Killer.

((Lol, sorry! I did get the Scottish vibe from him, but I never really got to hear a proper Scottish accent. So I don't know if they roll their "r"s or not.)

He wasn't ready for this at all, and never liked to start fights. He shrugged, accepting that it's probably for the best.

“I’m ready!” Blade said, then lunging forward towards Killer. He had to admit he was going pretty fast. Killer hunched down and jumped to the side at the last second. Then used his tail as a club, aiming for Blade's side.

(Hehe, he’s supposed to sound Scottish. ^^; Still, Auryn’s speech pattern is something I’m still working on)

Blade stood closer to the centre of the ring, his head and tail low in uncertainty. He watched how the muscles rolled under the huge form in front of him and wondered how he was supposed to have any chance against it. Surely even the gentlest flick was going to send him flying! He sighed and steadied himself, he wasn’t used to starting fights for no reason, but he never backed down from them either. Besides, Auryn had said this was important so… he’d just have to try. He considered his opponent more critically now, trying to imagine himself in a situation that made sense to him. Perhaps if he imagined Killer as a large buck he was trying to bring down…. a.. very, very large buck… ‘No’ he stopped himself before he went back along that mental path. A predator-prey relationship… he could work with that. If outside the line was his family, waiting for him to guide it in…

Blade smiled to himself, he knew what to do now, his posture subtlety changing into a more confident one. “I’m ready!” He answered and lunged towards the dragon at surprising speed.
03-12-2011 at 2:19 AM
He soaked in the words Auryn uttered, no claws, no blood shed. He hadn't fought without attempting to wound before. He had to use his body for this one.

“Well what are you waiting for?” Auryn said. “get intae the center!” The cat's Rs rolled off like a German or French human, but sounded more like a purr.

He stepped into the circle in space cadet mode, trying to think of how he's going to do this.

He came to rest at the back of the circle and turned to face Blade. Rolling his shoulders and stretching out his hind legs.

"Ready when you are." he spoke in a neutral tone.
03-12-2011 at 1:05 AM
“Ai, weil thair are rules o course” the cat replied, the r’s rolling off his tongue like a deep purr.
“Tae start wi, thir battles are only fur training, so thair is nae need tae concern yourself wi winning. I’m sure you both play fought when you were bairns, and this is nae different. Nae need tae fight tae win if there’re nae lasses to impress.”
He paused, he didn’t actually know much about dragons, they where rare everywhere these days, but in the cold of the mountains where he lived they were almost unheard of. He hoped that they played when they were young. He decided to make define it more clearly just in case. He shifted his body and caused a rough circle to be drawn around the plateau, encompassing most of the smooth centre, but avoiding the shaper and more dangerous edges.

“Tae win all you need tae do is tae cause your opponent tae step outside the line, or tae concede tae you. You can use all o your skills, but thair must be nae drawing o blood. You can bite tae control your opponent, but thair is tae be nae deliberate attempt tae harm them etc. Claws are tae be kept sheathed…” He paused again, looking at the pair in front of him
“…though I suppose that ane doesn’t apply tae either o you. Killer, I don’t know the extent o your skills, but you may have tae be more careful then Blade. Blade, you are tae concentrate on trying tae use tae powers instead o just biting like a feral beast. I shall watch from here and intervene if it gets tae ruff.”

He sat back and grinned at them. The silence that followed seemed to fill the air with uncomfortable emptiness and Blade shiffed uneasily under it.

“Well what are you waiting for?” Auryn said. “get intae the center!”

Fight? The thought worried him slightly, he has never 'wrestled' per-say....He stopped in his tracks for a moment recalling all his battles. They'd all been battles to the death.

"Uhm..." he said with slight awkwardness, "How exactly are we doing this? Just fighting? When should I stop....And should I go easy, hard? Offensive or defensive?"

((Lol, how odd.))

((lol not sure what happened there))

“Tae harness powers definitely.” The cat responded, pausing briefly to negotiate some particularly difficult terrain. “It’s fur Blade here mainly. Most o oor kind are either born wi’ the gifts or no o course, but the laddie has only recently come intae thaim.” He bounded across the rocks effortlessly following his chosen path. “Gave us all a start when he did… though now he hasn’t a clue how, so here I am, tae teach him what he should have learnt from a wee bairn. But nae need to be bletherin’ on aboot it no, we’re here.”

He stopped at the edge of a large plateau, almost completely flat except for a few larger boulders around its edge, the black stone contrasting strongly against the unbroken snow. Blade came up behind him, and looked out across the screen.
“So what do we do now?” he asked the little cat.
Auryn climbed up onto one of rocks fringing the edge so that he was at eye level with the canine.
“What do ye think? You fight!” He purred.

03-6-2011 at 5:40 AM
“Much better I must say, you’ll be perfect for sparing against Blade, he shouldn’t be able to hurt you…"

"You must be joking..." replied Blade.

Killer couldn't help but smirk but he tried not to act roostery.

"So, what are we training for exactly? Training to harness powers, or to strengthen physical combatant skills?"

03-6-2011 at 12:08 AM
The landing still blew up a lot of snow and it flew out to cover the two waiting for Killer’s return. But instead on landing on the cat, the snow blew around, circling and twisting as if caught in an air current, before settling on the ground beside him. There was no such effect for Blade however and the fine covering turned him white again, before he quickly shook it off. Auryn considered killer’s new form for a moment before shrugging and turning to lead them again.

“Much better I must say, you’ll be perfect for sparing against Blade, he shouldn’t be able to hurt you…”

Blade Froze in his tracks and glanced up at the gigantic form of the dragon looming over him.

“You must be joking….” He said in dismay.

Auryn just chuckled and carried on walking.

((Ouch! Stuff like that makes me cringe...Although I oddly enjoy watching it..lol I still haven't figured that out.))

“Oh oi? Shapeshifter are ye? A rare ability I must say!”
Killer nodded slightly, he'd just recently learned about his ability. His parents mentioned it to him but he is still puzzled as to why a Worgen out of all the creatures in the world.

“Now I spotted a likely looking place over on them plateaus to train when I was about earlier...” Auryn said, Killer wondered what exactly he meant by training as he followed him out of the cave. The weather was far more pleasant, no chilly wind penetrating to the skin.

“Tell me lad, have you trained before?” Auryn asked him.

"Not really, I have been in many fights but I never trained for them."

He felt a pang in his chest as he remembered trying to fight off the other dragons. There were far to many. He considered himself a skilled fighter but never really put much thought into it, he just acted off instinct.

He could no longer handle feeling like an oven, his thick Worgen coat was becoming a bit to much in the warmer weather.

"Be right back."

He spread out his blood red wings...They were alien to him, his normal wings were teal with white stripes. After a 360 scan he spotted an area big enough and powerfully lifted himself up to the ledge.

He hovered for a moment then tucked in his wings, falling just a few feet before catching himself. ...Okay so how did he do this before?

Killer closed his eyes and concentrated, he pictured his normal self and tried to will it. It was working, he grew larger, his neck became longer, his body more reptilian-like. He felt the comfort of standing on four legs instead of two.

It felt good to be out of that canine body. His wings were larger, broader, and normal again. No more blood red, just his old teal and white self, with the black clawed tips.

His vision is more enhanced as a dragon, like a bird of prey. He spotted Blade and Auryn down below. The shadow cast by his wings as he spread that out covered most of the platform, and with a powerful push downward fresh snow shot up into the air.

After careful aiming he tucked in his wings and dropped down near Blade and Auryn, thing to be as compact as possible.

"Okay, much better."

((Sorry for not replying in so long! I cut the end of my thumb off last week and have been suffering badly from it. ^^;))

“Nay need to wurry abou’ it, we’ve all been there at some point.” Auryn said softly as he walked outside, Blade following him out. The cat paused to breath in the cool air before replying to Killer’s remark. “Oh oi? Shapeshifter are ye? A rare ability I must say!” He seemed to be looking across the landscape for orientation “Now I spotted a likely looking place over on them plateaus to train when I was about earlier...” he said to noone in particular, then apparently finding the area he was looking for, trotted off in that direction. He glanced over the edge of the cliff briefly when he neared it, his sharp eyes perhaps spotting something far below. He discarded it quickly though and carried on his way, seemingly unconcerned as to whether the other had followed him or not.

“Tell me lad, have you trained before?” Auryn asked Killer conversationally after a while.
“I haven’t.” Blade muttered quietly from somewhere behind. He was feeling uncertain of what would happen next and trailing quietly behind.
((Oh and "Dakar" is on my side account, so if there isn't a post from that. Don't sweat it, it's probably due to writers block.))

02-10-2011 at 2:39 AM
He thought for a few moments, trying to come up with a reasonable response.

"Sure, I will gladly join you in your training." He hesitated for a moment "Sorry if I came off strong, I honestly have nothing now. I hate living without a purpose. I'd rather die at my companions side than alone."

Auyrn spoke, “I think we have wasted enough of the light already though, perhaps we should get on?”

Killer nodded in agreement. He stretched out and shook his cold, stiff limbs.

"I can't wait to get in some nice warm air...Oh and if you think I am big now, just wait." he smirked.

02-10-2011 at 12:09 AM
Auryn and Blade glanced at each other at Killer’s request, then Auryn shrugged, it was Blade’s decision in the end.

“It will be a dangerous journey.” Blade said uncertainly, looking back at Killer. “Even for someone of your size and strength. Not something to get into lightly.”

There was an empty silence then Auryn added.

“Perhaps ye would prefer to accompany us while we train in these mountains, then decide whether you wish to join us further? There nay be reason to make a commitment right now.” He smiled warmly “But a large lad like you would always be a bonnie addition.”

He moved to go back outside, “I think we have wasted enough of the light already though, perhaps we should get on?”

Dakar approached the vast snow capped mountains. The wind was chilly and unpleasant, he was not built for the cold. But the town was on the other side, he had to pass.
He jogged to the base, the sound of his feet hitting the ground was like a rhythm. Soon to be drowned by whistling winds.

02-1-2011 at 2:56 AM
He felt so good finally being able to sleep. But his new body was still weird, short, furry, and small compared to his long dragon-self.

He rolled over onto his side, being careful of his wings. He pulled his eyelids open and blinked several times.
Blade and Auryn were awake.

"Good Morning." grinned Killer.

"Hey, I have been meaning to ask you." he paused for a moment, "Are you guys going somewhere? I have nothing, nowhere to go. Would you mind me tagging along? I will fight at your side and serve as a companion."
Light streamed far into the cave before Blade awoke the next morning. He uncurled and looked around blearily as his eyes slowly focused. The light seemed too bright in the dimness and Blade wondered how long he had slept. Stretching, he silently moved to the entrance and stiffly climbed onto the ledge that blocked it. His muscles still ached from his exertions the previous day, and he crawled slowly forward to see out, being careful not to bump his head against the ceiling. White covered everything, but the sky was a clear bright blue and Blade could see far off into the distance. He took a moment to take in the view. It was easy now to see how sharply the mountainside sloped before him, the black rugged rocks only broken up by vast white slopes. Further off trees penetrated the bleakness, filling the valleys like green rivers, and for a moment Blade wondered about how the others had fared.

“Up at last I see?”

Blade looked down to see Auryn below him.

“The lass is fine before you ask.” The cat said. “I knew you’d be fretting, so I checked as soon as it cleared.”

Blade bent his ears back and looked away, he hated how he worried about her sometimes, but the pair had been together a while now, and he knew how easily the girl got herself into trouble.

“I shouldn’t be here, we’re wasting time.” He mumbled

“Now don’t be getting like that.” The cat reprimanded “We nay have a clue where to go as it is, and you need a place to practice… or would you rather be risking hurting her? Besides, Root says she’s been pouring over those paper mapy thingies all night, so nay doubt she’ll be heading into the yonder towns. Root says he’ll join her too if she does, would you rather be there?”

Blade looked down at him surprised. “Root in a human town?” He asked, climbing down from the wall. “It would almost be worth it.”

“Ai, I don’t think this mountain air agrees with him much.” Auryn chuckled, then looked back up at the gap.

“Has the other stirred yet?” he asked.

(less monologging after this one I should think)
