Dressing up your animals?
Started By
I don't agree with it, personally. I mean, sure. It's cold out, you have some dog native to a tropical climate, but you have to go for a walk. Throw a sweater on. I don't mind that. But a shirt? 'Pants?' Dog Costumes for Halloween? Really? Why! It's not like the dog is gonna get anything. Why take your dog out on Halloween. Poor thing is probably already freaked out that you forced it to wear some weird costume that is designed to make it look 'human'
Poor thing.
Anyway. Thoughts? Opinions?

I've seen people walking dogs down the streets with their dogs dancing around trying to get their shirts off and whatnot. I guess thats what made me dislike them so much. I guess, I should fix what I think. I don't like it when people force clothes on their animals.
I got it, Girly girls who force the same thing on their animals even if they don't like it.
*snaps fingers* Yep. Thats it.

First off "Teacup" is a fake term used by backyard breeders.

B: Dogs do not comprehend embarrassment. And a dog will give you clear signs if they are feeling uneasy with whatever they have on.

I've only dressed my dog up twice, once with a Dog-A-Thon shirt to support the local shelter at their event, and the other for a Halloween contest.
Here's Dakota's Halloween contest costume.
He was suppose to be a Rockstar.

Okay fine.
I have nothing against Toy dogs. It's all the teacup and Designer dog crap that their coming up with now a days.

Also, Dogs are NOT colorblind.
They see in shades of Blue red and green. You should probably start supporting your 'evidence' with facts, too.

No, Im not ranting about what I don't like. There would be MUCH more on this board if I was. Trust me. You don't want me to go there. Now. You can just walk away, or we can keep debating this topic, because with you and me, we'll be at eachothers throats soon. Regardless. I think it is best if someone backs off. I'm going to bed.
Find some time to cool off, before re-starting this debate.

Thay poor yorkie is a guy. Being forced into pink clothing.

Dogs are colorblind, you could put him in a pink dress with purple glitter he wouldn't know the difference.

Plus, the amount of pink she's wearing is absouloutly disgusting.
Now theres something wrong with the color pink??

I think Teacup animals are a disgrace. The poor things are Always terrified. God forbid they allow one to live with a child.

Small dogs are a disgrace?? There not scaired all the time eather, most have larger than life personalitys.
Also when chooseing a dog if you have small chirldren its not recomended to get a teacup. Talk to any breeder/dog owner.

Is this just a rant about things you dont like or are you going to back up anything your posting with facts?

Exactly. If the animal doesn't like it, then don't put it on.
Even if the animal coulden't care less, I still don't like the idea of clothes on a dog.

Eh, if the dog doesn't mind it and it's just a simple thing, like a little cape, it's fine. Some dogs really aren't bothered by it at all.

If the dog is obviously uncomfortable and anxious, then you shouldn't dress them up.

edit:

"Thay poor yorkie is a guy. Being forced into pink clothing.
Plus, the amount of pink she's wearing is absouloutly disgusting."

1) I don't think the dog cares what colour it's wearing. Why does it matter that the dog is a guy? Would it be more acceptable to you if it was a female dog? Honestly, it seems like you think dogs care a lot more than they really do.

2) Some people like pink. Whoop de doo. Doesn't strike me as a big deal.

Those and sweaters, Track booties and Collars should be the ONLY things to go on an animal.

Why because you dont personaly agree with it?? Theres a lot of pet owners who dress there pets up dogs and cats alike. i have yet to see anything showing where a dog/cat have been harmed.

Dog sunglasses can have a purpose for dogs with sensitive eyes when they go outside.
Those and sweaters, Track booties and Collars should be the ONLY things to go on an animal.

They do that because they have no where else to go. It is completely necessary for them to do their buisness in the yard.
What excuse do you have for dressing them up against their will?
Because it's 'Cute'?

I never said that. Besides, I don't think many people are going to stock up on Milk-bones. Why would anyone stop Halloween? Why would anyone think I'd want to stop halloween? I'm simply saying I don't agree with putting dogs in clothes/costumes.
