Hey guys, Wysper here, as you can see.
It's come to my attention that some of you are still having problems with some Mods, and things that they do, or say and such.
I would like to say right now, PLEASE message me about this, with proof. Screen shots, messages, etc. If something happens that should not, I can't do anything about it if I do not know about it.
The Mods all do have rules to follow, just as you guys do. When they fine you, or message you a warning, it is because they HAVE to. Don't think of it as a "person who is a mod" doing it. Think of it as the "SITE" doing it. Ya know?
Anyway, I want discussions here, on how you guys think that changes can be made. What is going wrong? What do you guys object to?
I want solutions, and solid idea's on how to improve things.

Before I quit the Helper team, we were encouraged to include a emoticon such as a smiley face, to give the impression we were friendly and weren't going to hurt them. A simple emoticon can change the tone of a message easily, especially if it's a message not meaning to warn. I've noticed some of the mods tend to be harsh all the time on the site and it scares other users, including myself, away... maybe this idea should be encouraged?

I've also noticed some mods sound brash when they don't say "please" and "thank you". Those simple words really can go a long way! :) It would help warnings (i.e.; in chat, where it's public) seem not a "violent", if that's the right word. Would probably appeal to players who are embarassed easily, too. Won't make a public warning as bad, and still gets the point across that they are breaking a rule.

Players truly shouldn't be afraid of mods, so those little ideas could help ^^;

Form letters are a fantastic idea, Roo... Even as just a suggestion or rough template :)

Thank you for this idea!

I've never been on the receiving end of the "abuses of power" that I hear about, so I can't really offer suggestions. I can, however, muse :D

I think what's going wrong is simple: mods are people. People have opinions on things and form opinions on other people. This is fine, it's only human nature. Where it becomes a problem is when that person lets their personal feelings get in the way of their job. So they don't like a particular player? Fine, that's their problem. But as an employee of this site, they have the responsibility to act neutral, whether it's difficult or not. I think this is where some of them are losing it, I think.

I don't know how to solve this, other than create form messages for the various warnings and things. That would make them less personal and reduce the instances of people feeling the staff are being rude. Then again, there might already be form letters... Are there?
